Absolut insanity.

These diodes are 20 bucks and I have seen them go at auction for 10 dollars, has this seller possibly fallen and bumped his head, or maybe hoping for a buyer who has ?

Same seller offering 1W 520nm for 626€ / 725USD

Woohoo! :D :D

I have never seen this seller before now. They offer the 488nm laser module in two optical powers, 30 mW and 50 mW. The only difference is driver set current, but they want ~$180 more for the 50 mW version. You'd think for that kind of money they would at least opt for a copper module, but they are using the cheaper Chinese version of the AixiZ modules. :/

The missing fans and the likelihood that these have sat somewhere for a very long time, make me hesitant to even offer an amount on one of these argons. It is a huge gamble that one of these will work after you get the power supply to run it. You will also need to replace the fan as these run very hot, very quickly.

Agreed. I saw these and briefly thought about it, for Krypton or mixed I might chance it. But not on an argon :(

I have built my own AIR cooling setups ( 3 actually).. you should PULL the air thru NOT blow it out.
IF you do not cool enough (& are lucky) overheating will shut the laser down but not always do harm... my ML has quit a few times when running as high as possible (145mW) FIRST time I was sure I killed it-- but after cooling down it worked again. I have only done that one more time. You mileage may vary and overheating might kill your laser..
The stock fan is best but others can work..
Blowing air thru is easy.. but drawing air thru is correct... you may need to enclose your fan in order to draw air thru.. no idea 100% why/how this works -- I just take what Sam sez as the best advice.. one thing that may help... knowing someone with a PS.. cooling is NOT needed for a VERY short test... like 30 seconds . According to Sam any lasers listed like these are unlikely in great condition..and a high risk.
At the LEMs its common for members to bring working 'parts' to help other's diagnose
their rigs. I am not selling any argon PSs as have less of them than my argons ( if interested and you have the correct PS I will gladly sell you a working (round style) SL.)

That is right, Len. Air should be pulled through the argon head instead of pushed in by the fan. To get a good flow you need your fan to be sealed to the enclosure or you will just pull air from around the fan. I plan on pulling mine out this winter for a few hours and measure its output at maximum. They make great room heaters when it is cold outside. :)

YES THEY DO ..
it was not hard to hook -up a small squirrel cage fan as long as it was a round head..
JB welded it with big drain PVC pipe. and got lucky with a fairly good compression fitting..
so easy to move to one of the others..I may be letting my ITL 488 argon- PS and a seperate same brand controller that I never got around to fool with it..give it one try the day it arrived and it lasered. and its on the shelf, then when the controller arrived I tried agin and output was unchanged..
The output when it arrived 11rc was 6 or 7 mW{got from another seller] so I was hoping for double digits.. like 10mW plus.. it has the stock cooling. Fires right up.. but I do not need it ..
pics soon- make offer..PCs and cords included....

Did you catch the fine MG LPM from junktronics.. it would look perfect on my bench,

more info at the listing here:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Melles-Gri...SPSPriorityFlatRateBox!77422!US!-1:rk:18:pf:0

I am betting higher powers can be read w/o any problems by using a ND filer or by other means (wave plate)
freeShip.. $~377.

Melles Griot Integrated 2-Watt Broadband Laser Power / Energy Meter+Sensor LPM
These are really handy general purpose laser power meters. They use a broadband thermopile sensor so they can be used with wavelengths from UV to deep IR. They are sensitive enough to measure sub-mW lasers all the way to 2+W lasers. They can also be used to measure the energy of pulsed lasers from 10mJ to 2J. The sensor head is adjustable height.
The 13 PEM 001/J integrated 2-watt broadband power and energy meter is a high-sensitivity instrument for measuring optical radiation from the ultraviolet to the far infrared. The instrument features a sensitive, but low drift, thermopile sensor head. The sensor disc, made from high-density graphite, does not have a painted, plated, or anodized front surface that can be easily ablated. Consequently, the thermopile has a very high damage threshold. The 13 PEM 001/J is ideal for measuring the output power of cw lasers, the average power of pulsed (quasi-cw) laser sources, and the peak power of long-pulse lasers. It can also measure the energy of a laser pulse.
  • Measures cw power from 10 uW to 2 W
  • Calibrated from 200 nm to 20 um (20,000 nm)
  • Handles 200 W/cm2 average power, 100 MW/cm2 pulsed power
  • Includes broadband (400 nm - 2 um) optical filter to eliminate thermal background radiation
  • Displays in both analog and digital formats
  • Adjustable tilt base for easy viewing
Measurement Specifications:
  • Calibrated Spectral Range: 200 nm to 20 um (400 nm to 2 um with filter)
  • Power (Energy):
    • Range: 10 mW to 2 W (10 mJ to 2 J)
    • Resolution: 10 mW (10 mJ)
  • Range Selection: 7-position switch, 3–3000 mW (mJ)
  • Offset: +/- 25 mW (mJ) with 10-turn potentiometer
  • Pulse Repetition Rate (energy mode): Single pulse or 1 Hz maximum
  • Maximum Pulse Width: 100 msec
  • Noise Equivalent Power (Energy): 10 mW (10 mJ) rms
  • Drift: Less than 15 mW over 60 min
  • Response Time: <0.5 sec
Detector:
  • Type: 10 mm diameter large-area thermopile - high-density graphite disc
  • Uniformity: +/-1% over central 8 mm
  • Maximum Power Dissipation: 3 W
  • Maximum Energy Density:
    • ~1 J/cm2 for pulse width t ≥ 10-7sec
    • ~t/10-7 J/cm2 for pulse width t ≤ 10-7 sec
    • (e.g., ~10-5 J/cm2 for pulse width t = 10-12 sec)
  • XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Hi Red :)
Ive ordered 15+ and never had any issue with the tolerances :coffee:
Been waiting awhile for them to start offering 3.8 & 9mm modules but.......still waiting :ROFLMAO:

I could (and do) spend a fair bit of money at Techhood ... anyone else notice a price increase recently?? I have noticed watched (buy it now) items jump up by a couple dollars in the last couple days..

I wasn't aware these were offered. At $3.00 each for copper modules I will be trying some out next time I need some TO-18 case modules. I hope Corey is right about the tolerances on these modules. I got some TO-18 modules once that were too tight and the diodes wouldn't seat properly in them. They were copper, but it has not been an issue lately.
