True, but still expensive for most. 561's are expensive in general.

I can't bid on that Varia, it is too high. I want it though, but the money would be better spent just building with what I already have, I have everything I need for a high power DPSS green, and a 1+ watt 561nm now, red I don't care about.

That is a great deal, only thing about multimode 520nm lasers I don't like is the bar shaped output with a lot of divergence, compared to DPSS, but the price on this is very low, you can't go wrong with that price right now. The bar shape itself isn't the problem, if the bar had low divergence in both axis I wouldn't care, but one side spreads fairly fast.

Here's a pretty nice single-line argon: Uniphase Argon Laser Complete Working | eBay

It's shown to work, which is nice - very little risk. However, the single-line nature of this laser makes it a bit less fun than a multiline unit. Still, it is a very good price!

But it's also fiber coupled, so the beam quality will be drastically improved.

Thought that went without saying ... though I did wonder why Red was asking, seeing as the emitter count isn't of much consequence here. :p

Probably knife edged and fiber coupled, rather than individual fibers for each emitter, given the small diameter of the fiber.

That was more for RedCowboy that it was for you lol.

I was just pointing it out because, as you said, emitter count shouldn't matter too much in a fiber-coupled system.
