I would really like to know what I can do to help avoid the "new user" stigma... I may be new but my intentions are pure and my interest in the hobby is only furthered by the wealth of information and availability of resources here.

Hmmm.... That's just what a scammer would say to build trust within the community..:tinfoil:

Stigma is something that is hard to shake, but just be honest and more importantly be yourself. People that are lying to others or themselves raise alarm bells IMO.

Just as a precaution I might put my tin foil hat on as well with you EP. :D :tinfoil:

you cannot take anything for granted in any forum, we have sock puppets here arguing with their own sock puppets.

Also old accounts taken over, I bet... the password security here is nil, you can make any simple password you want, common or not.

That wouldn't surprise me. We saw a bit of hacking on here recently.

I don't, but the Chinese are making that possible. My password is complex enough, would take 1000 years of brute force computation to hack it, that will change when we have better computers, I am sure, then we are all in trouble.

I think your password would be ok for another 10 years at least. :p
We will in big trouble when computers are capable of cutting the time down considerably.
I can't wait for the personal quantum computer to available for purchase.

I am probably entirely too suspicious and perhaps we have no hacked accounts, I just don't know, but with the influx of newbie members some of the old accounts I had never noticed active before started posting too, makes me wonder. I had a new thought about all of this concern today, who cares.... let them, I don't need to post in those threads.
