Thanx....DUH....I checked out DTR's site....but blew right over the NUBM06E....because it said 3.5 W.....Good price too !!!

SO....watched the video....looks like likely 5A is a OK level to drive this at....might cut some life off...but...in a HH...Meh !! So !!! not a real concern !!
So....close to 6W !! AND correctable divergence....unlike the 44E.....I will experiment with this !!:san:

I know you know DTR I just did that for any passers by who might want an easy link. :)

I've said it before, most of us are stuck on that single digit whole number thing such as 5W ,6W etc... Even though I tell myself it's kind of silly, I like to be able to say my .... hit 6W rather than 5.873W. Tell myself it doesn't matter and it's not logical but that doesn't seem to make any difference. Even my 100mW+ single modes bug me if one is something like 278mW. I want 303:)
They must make a pill for what ails us;) 10W anyone?

10W ??? Yes....and corrected to boot....I will " Make it So " !! :eg::eg::eg:

This is my NUBM06 with just a G7 lens at 6 feet vs a plank of stained cedar and I think my orange filter also blocks the mic hole, but if you turn up your volume you can hear it sizzle and fizz, pretty cool sounding when you are aiming it and burning at 6 feet with just a lens, not just smoke but flame, this nubm06 has some tricks with it's tighter divergence than the 44, but the 44 is super wide.

ABarnett - how far along are you on the quad 06 build??

I CANNOT WAIT to see that shiznitt!

If you need to borrow my 100W LPM one if these days just shoot me a PM.

ORRR if anyone is interested in some 100W LPMs for $390 hit me uuuuupp! (10W mode allows for readings in the thousandths - * 0.000W *)

Is the pinout on these the same as the other NUBM diodes? Anyone got a photo handy so I can save it for future reference?

Nevermind, I got it figured out! Apparently they are the same.

I have been buying NUBM06 diodes from Techhood at auction on ebay for right at 30 dollars and leaving the lens on and I have to say they are not bad for desktop or indoor use, with a 3X BE from sanwu they will light the bag at 20 feet.

For a 30 dollar diode with a lens included that's not bad. I think DTR has them for about 55 dollars if you don't want to wait 10 days, so far I get mine from Techhood right at 10 business days, that's not bad either.

p.s. This spot grows to about a 1/2 inch by 1.5 at 15 feet, but with a 3X BE that tightens right up, again not bad for the excellent price.

Hi, I new to lasers... I would like to know, this diode good for using CNC engraving, leave the GBall inside?
I mean, maybe possible to focus this parallel beam to a tiny spot. What kind of lens would be required for this?
I read warnings about removing GBall "decanned" diodes has short life time.

(for example: Techhood selling focusable laser modules, after e-mail him, I know he use for this NUBM05T and 08)

NO, not for CNC.

Get a NDB7875 from DTR, but get it now, they are in limited supply.

If you want to consider good quality low cost CNC engraving heads see: CNC modules - Opt Lasers

Thanks for help! I see their produtcs, its verry good quality.

Just want to know, because I don't find answer, why should't anyone do focusing after the G-ball lens?
(these diodes very cheap would be good value for money)

I would like to make laser module myself for experience!

For short distance work such as a CNC head a secondary lens could work, possibly a small anamorphic lens such as Alaskan brought to our attention, that way you could have a tight round length of cutting beam while leaving the GBall intact.

The feedback I have had from customers that have tried say the beam exits a little to fat to use with just the stock lens as is compared to what you can get with a G-2 lens since it is a shorter focal length. The shorter the focal length the smaller the beam you can get exiting the aperature. If a way to correct that is devised it would be via extra optics.

I just got some very good feedback on the N450 from a company I supply that makes CNC engravers. It sounds like will be a nice upgrade to the NDB7A75 which they currently use. Near the same divergence, more powerful and less expensive. That might be a good unit to start with if you want something more powerful than the NDB7875 which is the most common diode people seem to want for CNC engraving.
