The amount of blatant BS completely disgusts me...The good thing is, with kickstarter if the project isn't delivered or is complete BS, they are forced to return the money to the backers (if I have read correctly). Hopefully someone can call these douchewads out before people actually pay for this nonsense.

What a scam. It's a bit infuriating, really; both that they are making such bogus claims, and that people are ignorant enough to believe it. Really, REALLY irritating.

We're probably just being paranoid. Likely it's scientists AND ninjas.

I'm not saying this will work, but they could be using a direct diode operating on the >1.5um IR, for which the MPE is one or two orders of magnitude higher than visible light.

They could have found a particular WL on that range that is highly absorbed by hair and could cut it "easily" with, say, 200mW, assuming the whole fiber-discharges-focused-laser-on-a-tiny-spot thing works (based on the newest video it seems it kind of works).

The design wouldn't be that complicated and the power level seems compatible with what is shown on their videos and also with the form factor and AAA batt.


This leaves the burning hair smell and the shaving speed. I can't really see this being fast enough to be useful.

I have to say, using a laser to cut hair smells horrible. I've used a 445nm diode at 1w when focused up close it easily cuts dark hair. The smell is horrendous though.

Lol in that video do they not know how to shave? You shave with the direction of the hair not against it otherwise you get burns.
