Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd share a nice deal I came across yesterday! It's an aluminum case from Harbor Freight, with that pick'n'pluck foam stuff in it, plus it's got the latch closing mechanism. This would be great for laser storage!

It's regularly $49.99, but it's on sale for $27.99 + ~$6 shipping. BUT there's another coupon code! Use code "49673047" to get ANOTHER 25% off the case!

That brought my total for this huge awesome aluminum case to $27.98 shipped! :D I think that's a pretty good deal for a large aluminum case with foam already in it.

Link to the product: 18" x 12-3/4" x 6" Aluminum Case

Hope you guys find this deal useful. Let me know if you snag it as well!

Cheers,
Adam :yh:

Its a nice case but there is one issue with it. Notice there is about a 2-3" gap between the foam and the lid? That gap makes your lasers able to fall out of the foam and shake around. Foam needs to be all the way to the lid in order to hold your items in their slots and thus keep them safe. Other than needing to fashion a way of keeping your items secure, it is a nice case

True.. Hadn't though about that. However, if I create tight slots the lasers shouldn't fall out very easily. And, if need be, I can take out the pockets on the lid and use some headliner foam to line the lid for added stability.

Yup grab some gun case foam and your all set.
I recently got a couple of combo locking gun cases from eBay for $28 shipped. Foam meets flush when closed, but it's not as thick as these. Same length and width though.

Tight slots isn't enough. Trust me, I've run into that problem before. Only way to fix it is getting foam for between the existing and the lid. I'd say go to a craft store and buy foam but last time I checked it was expensive. Might be different now but when I bought mine it was about $20/sqft and that was 1" thick. Stuff is (or was) darn expensive!

I get my cases from Best Buy. They are nice big Pelican cases. Retail is 100+ dollars for one case. I get em for 50.

Ah, gotcha. I'll look into getting some and let you know what I find :yh:

Dang! Thats' expensive...
When I went to Michael's they didn't even have that foam. What craft store did you go to?

Nice!! I wanted a Pelican but they're really expensive.
How'd you get the discount? Do you work there?

No problem :yh: I'll let you guys know how it turns out when it arrives!

Places I checked were hobby lobby and Michaels. Both had some but iirc Michaels was more expensive. It was near the sowing stuff on the outside wall but it wasn't with the fabric samples. I do it was weird, might need to ask an employee or check online

The case came in a little while ago I but forgot to update you guys here.

They actually included a piece of eggshell foam to cover the pockets in the lid, so that when you close the case the foam does meet flush. :D

It's a really nice case so far. As of right now I have my Eagle Pair goggles (they fit in the aluminum case, even when in the hard case they came with!), some batteries, the battery charger, and 3 lasers, with plenty of room still left!

If anyone is interested, they've still got the case on sale for $27.99 and they have a 25% off store wide Easter coupon, so you can get it pretty cheap.

Funny I just saw this post. I went to HF yesterday and bought two of these with a coupon sent to me by my credit card carrier. They are very nice cases. I happen to have some 12x12x2" acoustic foam sheets that fit perfectly inside with one cut down.
Great case!

Most cases I own I bought by trolling ebay for used aluminum cases. Insert the word camera or gun or equipment in the search and you'll come up with some nice cheap cases every now and then. I actually got a very large Zero aluminum case not too long ago for $25. It needs a paintjob or strpiping of the amulinum but it's a very fine case. Probably sold for well over $300 new.

Haha, nice! You'll like the cases - I sure love mine.

Did yours not come with the eggshell foam? Mine had the pick'n'pluck foam in the bottom, then some eggshell foam, then the pockets for extra stuff.
We could have gotten different cases... Just checked the HF site and there is one for about $5 cheaper that doesn't have the same foam:
18" x 13" x 6" Aluminum Case
18" x 12-3/4" x 6" Aluminum Case

I actually got a very large Zero aluminum case not too long ago for $25. It needs a paintjob or strpiping of the amulinum but it's a very fine case. Probably sold for well over $300 new.

Wow - nice find!

Yes, mine has the eggshell foam. It's black and silver on the outside.

I just checked eBay for "used zero case" and there is another one of those nice cases I bought for $36. Super fine case. If someone here is looking for a really well built case you won't lose with Halliburton's Zero line up.

Oh, ok - I thought the acoustic foam you were talking about was to fill in the gap from the base foam to the lid.

I'll definitely have to check out those cases when I need a new one for more lasers. They sound nice!
