Hey guys,

I made a new buck driver capable of up to 3A of current with very low ripple.
Efficiency is around 90%.

check the manual for more info.

This is Version 1 of it.

it's not a very small driver, but these are intended to be used with high power laser diodes and larger hosts.

the driver doesn't get as hot as a boost driver would do at the same output current.

version 2 will be on a 17mm circular pcb.

I have them in stock if anyone wants to buy some shoot me a PM.
$10 each!

MANUAL

The IC is not AX2003 as some of you might think. :D

Hey great job there! We definitely need more high current, good quality drivers!! Does it need heat sinking and if so where and above what current? +1

Heatsinking is done on the bottom side of the driver,

there is plenty of copper area for the areas that get hot during high current operation. Anything above 1A should be heatsinked.

there is always the thermal shutdown at 150 C :D

Looks nice and tidy. Good job.

EDIT: the manual is very nice just like the first driver.

Thanks,

please if anyone sees errors in the manual, let me know..

I edited it at least 5 times because of stupid things like "low ripple ripple" :D

:D :D

Thanks in advance

I am giving away 5 free samples to the 1st five people who respond to this thread! :D specifying the current they want. 3A, 2.65A, 2.45A, 2.3A or lower.

I would ask for just $5 each for shipping expenses. I will ship with registered air mail!

Nice! Someone should torture a 9mm diode with this.

foulmist, is it okay that you send the sample to someone else instead of me? I wont find much use for that at the moment.

If foulmist will grant my request, first one to pm will have the driver.

:D cool fantastic! Id love a 2.45 A driver!! :thanks:

Edit: Just thought Id mention Im planning a 9 mm build in the kryton groove, so this will be perfect...Not going for very long run times..:shhh: Ill also do a review with the driver for you!

does the inductor get hot at 2+ Amps? Also, how about the power rating of the current setting resistor? I'm assuming that the reference voltage is 250mV?

I will send one to awillis2589 instead then. He contacted me via email as he was temporary blocked on the forum

yes the inductor does get hot as all the current is passing through it. but heatsinking the bottom of the board is enough to make it safe.

yes 250mV reference voltage. I haven't had any problems with standard 0.33W resistors at 3A testing.

Nice, I love drivers with a flat bottomed heatsink pad, so much easier to sink it. Very Nice good work.
