iDRV3 - New 3A Buck Driver

I have found some SMD resistors which has 471 printed on. So the value is 470R. Is that enough ? :)

Hold on to your horses guys,

if you haven't ordered a resistor yet don't

I may have found the solution of the fault!!!!!!

will post in an hour or so!!!

FINALLY!

I FOUND THE SOLUTION! Forget about the bleed resistor!

this is a full-proof permanent solution.

the input cap must be changed with a 10uF 16V X5R/X7R cap.

originally I used 100uF cap supposedly to make things smoother but IT WAS the problem! It cannot discharge this fast when switching the input and the spike appeared!

even a 22uF cap will cause spikes sometimes!

10uF is just the right value for the input cap.

it's an easy change so instead of a resistor just replace the input cap with a 1206 10uF 16V X5R or X7R capacitor and goodbye spikes forever!

a perfect example where too much capacitance is not always better! :)

this is the cap needed to be changed!

 Very sorry again I hope you don't hate me now :D

new caps are on the way so every driver from now one will be spike free!
it's amazing what a good night sleep can do ! :D

I have received the iDRV3 drivers. They look very good.
After replacing the 100uF capacitor I have build it in my Dominator laser. The driver fits perfectly in the brass pill.
I always heatsink the drivers no matter the settings. The third hand keep the aluminium sink pressurize on the ic while the glue hardens. :)

very nice!!!

Foulmist, I want to purchase one set at 2.4a if I could :)

Mine arrived today, once I get the cap here and installed, I will be using this driver to replace my 2.2A x-drive in my massive heatsink dual 18650 host.

The 2.2A x-drive is gonna go into my Kryton 9mm build, it just doesn't make sense to me to have 2.2A in a giant host and 2.4A in the smaller host.

I really need an LPM that can measure over 2W......

Ok here's mine with a new 10 uF cap, thought Id share :)
