Found this thread and I'm with the rest of you. I'm dying to know how this turns out.
Exactly how many different hands have held this laser now I wonder...

OK I got home. Opened the box. Guess what was inside?

A laser. Laser glow Vega.

Had bought new c cells, stuck em in and.... No light. So either the laser is DOA or it needs tweaking. I tried bypassing it quick. Still nothing. So now I'm attempting a teardown and I'll let you know what I find.

Edit: it works! Tail cap is definetly the problem.

Consider yourself lucky with this purchase. You took a not so small risk for a laser and it turns out well.

Thanks Blord! However I was mode worried about being scammed than risking my money on a possibly F'ED up laser.

I also found the EXACT problem. A wire that touches the contact in the tailcap broke loose. I'll have it soldered back on in a JIFF! Hardest part was getting the contact out. Thanks to whoever donated these hook tools in the swap box! Made the disassembly a breeze. I'll take pictures for you guys.

The key that's missing is the ACTUAL key next to the blue button. Turns out there's only a momentary switch in there. Made life much easier. I thought that the key interlock would have been broken or the safety dongle. Nope. Just a broken wire!

Thanks everyone for the support!

Great for you!
Honestly, I believe most of us expected the worst. I sure hope nothing else crops up. Keep us posted. I wouldn't have taken the chance yet. I'm not tweak rated enough... working on that though.

It just about killed me but I did record the unboxing. However only for documentation purposes in the case of a "empty box" paypal claim. THANK GOD this was not the case!

Bare with me. I'm uploading photos now. I wish they could have been better. SORRY no beamshots! (not yet anyways)

Here was the 550$ problem.

Here is a pic of the laser in action! Note: I used a banana clip insulator to hold the interlock ON.

Heres the dot photo. The dot is TEM00 (doesnt EVER go TEM01). However it flickers because it tries SO hard to stay TEM00. The speckle you see is MOSTLY lens flare. It does have just a tad of speckle probably due to some dirt.

Here is one more photo of the laser from a SLIGHTLY different angle.
