Ah I did not think of non visible LED-light can I check that with my LPM? would the center likely be the +end?? maybe i should check the continuity at the plug when light shines of the clear lens (?photodiodes?)these have OR MAYBE I take a hammer and see whats inside--

Before resorting to the hammer, there is a way to find out the polarity. You need an
incandescent light bulb. Shine it on the device in question and start probing with the meter.
An LED will give a few mV. A photodiode will give hundreds of mV up to a volt. A
phototransistor won't give anything (I don't think, don't quote me on that). Then when you
think you've got it, put 10-25mA through it, + to +, - to - and it should give light if it still works.
If FP is right, it will be 940nm IR, so you will need a way of "seeing" it.

One of the coolest receivers I ever seen used 22 Nuvistors for the amplifiers and it could tune from about 20kc to 1.2gHz wish I could remember the manufacturer

I know what they are, they are repeaters for IR controllers, if you have a house stereo system and you have speakers in your bedroom you will
have a pick-up unit in you bed room and it will send the controllers IR single over wires to the stereo equipment and there it is fed into these
units which are mounted just under your main control unit, now you can turn the volume up remotely ;)

I know as I had this type of set up many years ago

see here> Infrared Remote Extender 2 Emitters 1 Receiver Hidden IR Repeater System Kit DC | eBay
I have a couple of them the cable one "still in package" and the old Radio Shack ones that are pyramid shaped.

well finally I know what these are-- Prolly will never use for intended purpose-

but for sure a usable item if ONLY as a power cord-- one difference I have seen between mine and ALL the ones at Greedbay is how the two wires on mine are split while the two senors on all others are NOT- I guess you can split these as much as you need---

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

my red plastic 'thingy' has NOT yet been named-- the several guesses were not close-- you guys are 'barking up the wrong tree' as they say...

so i will add one more pic & if you all want to give up.... just say so..

I see on the box it read; for sale ONLY in USA and Canada--this may only mean its an English only item--

other clues....
there is no 'speaker' in either part---

I do not think it is waterproof

Made in China

Only 'certain' people would want one of these and they are NOT cheap..
many are FS on GreedBay..

ask any questions you have--
