Hint 1: These are the same and not fasteners.
2: There is no through hole.
3: about 1/4" Dia
4: These have saved many lives.
Another hint: 5: These contain a tiny bit of Am rare element.

Need another hint??????

I couldn't find the exact model, but the ones on eBay all look pretty similar. There's a handheld transmitter part, and another smaller part that attaches to the collar. Some appear to be shock-based, but this one looks ultrasonic maybe. Just a guess. They can be used to stop dogs from barking. ('Barkfree' is one of the brands. Starts with B?)

The red transmitter box appears to have a UHF antenna mounted. The small unit
appears to have a collar / belt mounting device and one picture seems to display
and electrode to "get a jolt" (old song -- Monster Mash).

the red item attaches to the collar-'hears' the dog (turns out even the 'barkless' Baseji who howls only and 80 other breeds are in the program- so you add your dog and the receiver translates what your dog is 'saying' it records the barks and the time they happen so when you come home you can find out when your dog was barking and what he was saying..as well as using it when you are with your dog- I would not think it would be a good thing for the dog to wear full time, of course..

I wonder what Caesar Milan thinks of it- be interesting to compare what he is getting from dogs to what thew Bow-lingual is saying-:-0

miniature atomized particle counters, for counting airborn particles of a tiny size, such as atomized liquids or residual matter from a localized combustion?

Your comment " residual matter from a localized combustion" tells the story.
These are the ionization sources used in common Smoke Detectors !!!
The tiny element in there is as I'm told is an isotope Am241.

Easy ---- That is a sensor which monitors the decay of dilithium crystals in a
warp drive reactor. The long curved arm isolates the device from the reactor
chamber wall temperatures thereby adding stability to the system. No one wants to
drop out of warp in the middle of a star.....

Guessing that the device has only two leads, I think
it is a sensor of some sort. That long arm which looks
broken off is confusing.
How big is it?
