Well I remember him mentioning he had something like 7-8 more new diodes that he was going to be testing a few weeks ago so I've been checking a few times a day:) Really interesting seeing it has a ball lens like the last reveal.

Hhhmmm. It's cheaper but has that stupid integrated lens.

It's one of those diodes from an array that's designed to not be extracted. They will never stop us. It's good to have another one to choose from, and not too high priced either considering what it is.

Until they copy osrams idea and use a common base/mount for all the dies. Then...big laser-flashlights...?

I'm hoping to see some beam shots and output readings on these, also the Gball could be kept on and lensed from it's output.

I must admit I have become a power junkie, I know our eyes have evolved to be much more sensitive to green as our ancestors survived in a world of mostly dirt, water, rock and leaves...lots of woods and shades of green, hence our vision becoming most sensitive to green.

So for bright beams green wins, but I care less what color my car is and more about how much torque it puts to the ground when I step on the gas.

Actually I care a lot about how much gas it burns these days, following that line of thought perceived brightness for brightness we will get more runtime from our batteries with the green diodes, so that's a plus.

@ crazyspaz : There are a lot of possible outcomes along the path to their goal, that is lower cost and higher efficiency.

We can look to how led flashlights have evolved and glimpse some possible steps to the eventual single emitters that will occupy a visual display device. In the end there may be just 1 big diode with either a tunable emitter of more likely a single RGB, Imagine that new 3 beam red diode only RGB, or god forbid the thought it all goes leds, but their are advantages to laser diodes and a 3 diode unit 1 each RGB is most likely. They may be multi emitters crammed side by side until materials science makes true single emitters most cost effective.

There will be advances in the hobby line of products, but as we only make up 3% of the laser market we will likely be feeding off the mass produced repurposed line as we too are driven by cost effective. But keep your ear to the ground, change is inevitable.
p.s. As for the plpm4-450 I can see a grid of 20 little lenses and it will be fun none the less. It could be epic.

Man I could have saved me 75 bucks if I could have waited just 4 days to pull the trigger on a NDG7475. I would have still bought a NDG7475 but took forever to save then he drops the price. I could of had one three weeks ago for the price he has them now. I thought he loved me better than that.;)

I wasn't going to buy one of these anyway... I was set on the 7475 just I could of had driver and g2 paid for what I did for the diode at current price. Think of it as more of a declaration of my pain for saving as long as I did to get one I'm not cheap just have to many expensive hobbies.

Just think about how you would feel if you had bought one for 1000 dollars or 500 even.
One day when the 5w greens are all the rage they will be 35 bucks, just like the 1w blues are now.
Believe me I want one myself but I have a limit, after 199.99 my pucker factor kicks in pretty hard LOL

The data sheet for the 7475 is massively different as this is no doubt through the Gball however one parameter is the same but the other is better for the 01T than the 07E which you know are both the blue and green Gballs.
This is promising.
For perpendicular the 07E diode ranges min, typ, max .25,.40,.55
For perpendicular the 01T diode ranges min,typ,max -- ,.15,.40

The parallel parameter is -0.8 to 0.8 for both.
This green diode appears to be less divergent than the blue one with the typical value being the greatest difference. I am hopeful.
Good info gozert, A+4U :)
Now I really want to see the output of one of these with the Gball lens on. I could press one into a module with the lens on and use a lower power sliding lens for a zoom focus, it will need to be almost flat I bet.

While you're probably right that these diodes will be much cheaper in the future, the reason I'd pay over 200$ for one is because it's currently about the brightest you can get. Sure, it's still just as bright in 2 or 3 years, but by then it's not nearly as cool to own one than it is right now.

Dude, I have bought my share of first rounders even when we had to tear them out of the drives. I'm only saying that I missed the price drop (by that much) that could of helped with another diode, driver, or something consider it a slight not really pissed or anything.
