New 520nm diode on DTR's site (1W) NUGM01T

Yea, I purchased one of these on 9/4, which I believe is when they were posted. Started the build last night, will finish this afternoon. Putting it in an Ehgemus host and running it at 2A. I'm putting my money on a very slightly higher output than the NDG7475. Will confirm tonight

Sounds promising! I'm quite curious about the divergence of this diode, and of course what output it can reach.

It's a bit cheaper than the NDG7475 diode as well, which is always a plus.

On a side note, do you have a money tree growing in your back yard? I can barely keep up with all the builds you post! :D

Any chance that you bought 2 of them and you're going to test the other with the Gball intact? Just curious
I am also very interested to see what the output looks like, also I wonder how much brighter than my 500mw 532 that 1.25 or so watts of 520 will appear, and I wonder if it being multimode will effect visual perception of brightness compared to DPSS.
If you're feeling like a really good sport and you have a 1/2 watt labby, possibly you could do a side by side pic. I know the camera may not do justice but you could give your opinion, our eyes I'm sure work about the same.

^ ^yeah, what was your address again?:D

Awaiting some real testing although something has to be drastically better for me to spend on another 520nm as I have my eye more on the 465nm right now. Going to hold off though for the time being.

Ha. I wish! I will let you know how the divergence is. As for the output, I can give output up to its listed max of 2A. I refuse to push a $220 diode past that. At least until that money tree starts producing. :)

If I can get some reassurance from DTR, I will run it a little higher than 2A.

The only other green builds I have are a 235mW PLP520 and a 100+mW PL520. As for the Gball, it is removed, obviously, but it is still intact. Maybe I can fit it down in the module to where it is almost exactly where it was originally?

Naw I wouldn't want you to do all that, I know I'm going to get 1 or the other but my money tree has yet to sprout from yarn magical beans me planted....so I'm just searching for intel before buying, I really would love to do a triple green but I want a block of 05T's...correction, I will get a block of 05T's but that means just one 520 for now, and I may wait a week or two and see if the blocks come down. The block of 07E's dropped 100 last week so it's worth waiting, but I still don't have a 520 so I have a valid excuse to get one.

Have you tested output and divergence yet by a chance? I'm pretty curious about it as it's quite a bit cheaper than the NDG7475.

Do tell, but if only slightly higher, couldn't that be a normal difference between diodes too, some higher, some lower?

I got pretty busy this week. I'm trying to finish it tonight, but I'm having an issue with the X-Drive ADJ to 3A driver I'm using. I'm testing it with my jumper at position 5, which should be around 4 volts at 2 amps. I'm wanting to run this diode at the datasheet's listed 2A max current. I can get it down to 2.1A, but if I try to adjust it just a TINY bit further, it drops back down to .7A. Anyone got any suggestions?

Indeed. As we all know, laser diodes tend to vary in output, quite significantly sometimes. We can't know an average output until we have a decent sample size. My prediction is based purely on the numbers from the two datasheets. If you compare the optical output/current ratio of the two and extrapolate that to the listed max currents, the NUGM01T should have a higher max output. We are all also well aware that theory is not reality. So hopefully I can shed a a wee bit of light on this subject tonight. And provide some kickass beam shots.

PM lazeerer and request a multi turn pot, we just talked about it in the 07E thread and he said he could make you one that way if you want, I know I do.

Still waiting on his initial reply about this driver. Lol. It doesn't seem like a sensitivity issue. It is fine until it gets to 2.1A. Below that, it just drops to 700mA suddenly.

The Nugmoit and the Nubmote. Makes it easier to remember their names now doesn't it?

All this is making me numb and feel rather glum, this could cause me to go dumb as now I will fumble with all of this bumble over which I will mentally stumble, oh lord I'm beginning to succumb as I'm feeling the need to rumble and grumble due to this jumble.

I just can't even begin to make anything out of NUBM07E or NUGM01T that remotely sounds like English. Or any other known language, for that matter. I just don't get it. Lol.

I'm just going to run this diode at 2.1A since I can't get the driver to go any lower.
