Re: FS: LM1117 Based Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

Still waiting on batch 1 PCBs. Probably about a week after batch 1 shows up. Hopefully its not in the post office black hole like my 635nm was.

Its been in the postal black hole since 3/3. I don't understand how they can get something delivered from DFW to CA in 2 days, but it takes so long to get to OH.

I know, when i saw people get stuff in such a short time i was like "i can dig this" . But, that happens XD. i've had things get lost for weeks before.

my god the capabilities of this driver just astound me. I built a second Kryton with this driver and used the same copper heatsinks, and this one peaked at 1.73W.

I haven't measured the current, but off 2 16340's that's insane!

Put me down for another 2 plz.

Whats even more amazing is it's probably more as I'm using one of teh 445nm lenses that aixiz shipped out with the half threads and then turned out to be the wrong lens.. I think it was more coated for bluray than for 445nm. Needless to say, I've ordered some different lenses and we'll see if the output is any better.

I would like to make one teenie recommendation.
Put the LD + and - pads a little closer together. My god I have to bend the crap out of my pins in order to get them to fit

Awesome info, any feel for runtimes with the 16340's yet? (2 from batch 2 added)

Re: FS: LM1117 Based Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

I just wanted to share some data and testing results I recorded tonight with these drivers AND to add that heatsinking these is FTW :D

I have 2 different types of heatsinks I added to my 1.3A preset jibdrives, one of which is from some units I received from Jib (thanks man ) and the other from something I harvested from a high end video card (thanks nvidia ) myself.... All in all I pretty much got the same results (my heatsink'd vs jibs heatsink'd) and I must conclude with saying that (1) the results are identical like I said and (2) my opinion is that these drivers are phenomenal!! Especially for their price - and I think they will get a lot of use in the near future from specifically +1W 445nm builds. A million thanks to jib for offering these drivers

I just did this 5 mins ago. Presuming I test this driver with higher voltages I may yield a higher output, but with ~2min runtime @ <7V I get 100mA above the 'unheatsink'd' preset. Thanks again Jib for these drivers, and the testload PCB I've been using to test everything above 4V/1A lately :D

Thanks for the helpful info!
I bet jib will be very appreciative of it.
+1 :san:

Indeed I am ... in my tests increasing the voltage did indeed increase current. Im my 1.8A LD1085 version, it wanted 7.6V to make the full 1.8A.
