You know you are a laser enthusiast when....

Yeah seriously it's like, a whole another level of building.

I mean, fox sake, it has a microprocessor with acceleratometer on board and changes colors depending on how you tilt it.

Not to mention the little joystick for navigating menus. Which are displayed on it's screen.

On a handheld laser. I mean, most professional lab lasers don't have those capabilities.

I cant believe you haven't seen the build thread IE..

Arguably the best handheld laser...ever.

And it was built by a member right here.

I read the thread when it was just posted, and a couple of updates, but I had no idea how far it progressed, and that it was actually built.

I seriously didn't think it would be possible... never posted in the thread, never subscribed to it.

Definitely one of those times I'm happy to be wrong.

Going back to the question... I would give up any five of my lasers for it in a heartbeat.

You kiddin', I'd give a kidney for it :D

In any event, I'm pretty sure we can promote Multimode to N7 class Laser enthusiast.

Yup, it puts all other lasers look like nothing in comparison, I look back at my multi-diode lasers now and they are nothing compared to his build. I'd gladly trade my whole collection (projectors not included) just for the metal work and schematics/PCB.

Lol I really hope Multimode is reading this :)

Back to zee game?

When you literally have to at least fire up your 532 for a minute or 2 before you leave for work each day.

And then by the time you get off work, and its dark, you have to fire up the 405 so you can look at that amazing colored beam.

Hmm, now there is food for thought. We're talking handhelds only right? And that does not include the lasers currently on order/in transit?

Not counting cheaper/cheapy ones, I have 14 lasers right now.

Granted not a one of them is even a third as cool as this... but no I wouldn't trade.

I probably would for a complete PJ setup with software, everything basically ready to go.

IE you pretty much read my mind on that hypothetical. Yes includes lasers in transit, does not include cheapy pens. I would trade my collection for a laser that can hit the entire visible spectrum, but my collection isn't quite as extensive as yours. So it's worth 10 nice handhelds but not 14, interesting.

What if you were allowed to keep only one laser from your own collection for it, but the trade would include all your lasers, even the cheapy pens. :tinfoil:

And to continue the game: When you smell arctic alumina and think ahhhhh....lasers.

I'm just gonna take a stab in the dark and say that I expect the next version of his laser, that he makes to sell, to cost way more than my fist car did ($900)

Hmm, well I guess I could always rebuild my collection. Still it's not a cheap collection. On a purely monetary basis, idk which would win out.

I couldn't care less about the cheaper lasers like pens, combined all my cheap lasers are not worth one nice one imo. Though for the most part, I got rid of all the cheaper ones I had, or those that for whatever reason I just would never use.

Edit; You know you're a laser enthusiast when there is at least one flashlight for you to play with by your bed.
