Yobresal Build Possibly Underpowered

Not dissin ur vid, you got yours on fire faster than me. I spent forever trying to focus mine. Meant the op being flame challenged and everyone telling him its hard to set paper on fire.

Mine starts fire the best when fully focused, it does punch right on through but the edges of the hole burn.

No Dis taking buddy.:) I should have stated that after practice it will light much faster.;)

No lie, the first thing I did with the 1.1W I won was try to light a piece of black magazine paper on fire. The first time did the trick, no chit. Out of the 6 attempts only 2 lit the paper. You have to have the focal point exact, or it burns right through.

Let me bite my tongue. I went and tried again. I drew lots of lines on the paper before I got it to make fire :( There is some luck involved.
THEN it did it when I didn't want it to. I was drawing a smiley face with horns and it burst in to flames. Thick paper helps too IMO. This paper was thinner printer paper than before.

It is certainly possible to light the paper to open flames.
My 1.6 watt build has no problem igniting thick paper. My 1.2 watt build was only barely powerful enough to ignite magazine paper. In my experience, magazine paper ignites more easily than plain printer paper. Although, with enough power, both will burn. Here are some tips.

1. crumple the paper

2. try several different types of paper. The thin, glossy newspaper ads usually burn the most easily.

3. Focus the laser to a pinpoint.

4. as soon as the paper starts smoldering, slowly move the focused dot on the edge of the burning paper.

I noticed that ignitions was just past the focal point. When it was a pin point it just burned though.

Dang this thread really blew up, I am in no way dissing yobresal's laser. It is amazing. I was just curious of peoples techniques for lighting the paper. I know its possible, just takes practice i'm sure.

Can you burn regular paper? With my 18650 host, 1W, if i focus it to burn at 3 inches, i can light paper into a flame..Regular printer paper.

@jbtm

How focused are you making it? Pinpoint? Doesnt that just burn right through it and form a tiny hole?
Or are you holding it so its a little past the focal point and ur heating up a larger area and it finally burns?
Do you get it to burn through and then start heating the outside of the burning embers? I cant seem to get it to work.

Try to hold the laser a bit away on the paper and make the spot a bit big, then after the paper is starting to smoke a bit, move the laser closer so the focal point hits the heated paper, then it will ignite pretty easily.

This should work, every time I tried it after I found it out it worked.

You can also use a match if you have a bunch of paper you need to burn right away.

Probably faster and cheaper than using a laser.

He didn´t say anything against you, why are you also that unfriendly?

What does it give you that you bump this thread to write your comment. Do you think it was important?

Look at Staiain´s post (the one before yours), THIS was helpful!
Just a lil heads-up I want to give you (again) ;)

Just making a joke about the fact that everyone wants so badly to burn sheets of paper... and it's the first time i've seen this thread, and I decided to post - who cares if it's bumped?

What's the problem, do you loose money every time a thread is bumped with a post you don't like?

Oh wait, I just figured out what your bad english means when you say you "want to give me again." Are you actually threatening a neg rep?

That's hysterical!!! You need a life outside this board, Mr 2,000 posts. Hey, before I joined this place, I've never even seen that feature, so it's meaningless to me. But if you are threatening me with it, then it must mean something TO YOU...

Try read it again.

English is my second language, but I still see the "give" refering back to the "heads-up".

A "heads-ups" I would like to "give" you would be, try to be less aggressive and paranoid.

Toke, I wish I could understand what you're trying to tell me, but no such luck.

If you still wish to share your thoughts on this personal matter between myself and DKFU, I encourage you to PM me - I prefer not to waste people's time with off topic non sense and dirty laundry.

A bit hasty and presumptuous, don't you think? Especially to attack someone's rep.

I don't know if you can remove it yourself, but if not I'll ask a mod to look into it and to suggest you think a bit more carefully before assuming someone deserves a negative rep.

BTW, I´m SURE that I have more life than you son!

@ Toke - I encourage you not to PM. It will waste your time in pointless, psuedo debate where you have to agree with the point or be accused of persecution. This member appears to like winding people up. I think there's a name for people like that isn't there?

I would certainly consider the post below to be wasting people's time with off topic nonesense. You continue to contradict yourself Mojo.
