Yobresal Build Possibly Underpowered

You wont ever be able to light that paper on fire. Maybe burn it but no open flames, at least I have never seen it light actual flames.

IMO your laser is fine!
You need a special combustible composition of the ink, not all magazines have, to entflame the paper.

Edit:

Luke (yobresal) made a vid entlaming a magazine

It is VERY rare that paper will actually burst into flames. Watch a few more "burning" videos. Burning through is all that is accomplished.

When you do see videos in which paper bursts into flames, the paper has usually been treated with an accelerate of some sort.

Your laser is fine

Peace,
dave

Looks like its doing more than just smoking. Looks like its burning through it. I can not see the beam focal point in your vid either. Thats one hell of a lot of twisting your doing to focus it too.

We don't know if your 2 sets of batteries were fully charged....

NO... the two types of batteries are NOT the same...
One type is 3.0V and the other type is 3.6V... Quite a difference.
You can NOT charge both types with the same charger....

I have a tested 1.5 Watt 445nm Laser and it does not ignite
paper when focused... It does smoke a lot of stuff...

Jerry

You should fold some of that paper up and put it under the far leg of the table.

*edit, not wanting to go against the grain but i have lit plenty of paper on fire, and toothpicks & matches (not the head, the wood) , but i have a flexdrive driving my Jayrob 18650 host.

Thanks, and ya it burns throught instantly, I just saw a couple vids where this laser was used to ingnite paper into open flames

from my experience trying to ignite paper into fire with lasers i noticed that if you focus it to a pin point on the paper it just go right trough, but if you defocus it a bit ( so that your heating a larger area and burning it slower ) it does ignite occasionally.

it also greatly depent on the paper, i used the simpel old news paper.

Wow.......I just saw this thread. I could have easily answered any questions/concerns you may have. It looks like the laser is plenty powerful. Like others have stated it is very hard to ignite the paper. That video I made did not happen on the first try. The type of paper, the focusing ability of the user, the power of the laser, the dryness of the paper, the type of printing ink used. There are any number of variables to take into account here. I test all the lasers I sell on a laserbee before they are shipped.

Very good, i should have mentioned that.

Yobresal, i dont mean to trash your laser in anyway. I love it and i know is insanely powerful. I just was mislead because ive seen a few vids with ur laser igniting paper.

The reason why you cannot light the paper is because its flat down and the laser is just punching through it.

What you need to do is crumble it up the paper and then try. Just follow what i did in the video.:)

It doesn't show me focusing because i already focused it before i did the video but what i found is even if it is slightly de-focused it would still light.

Heres my video. Just crumble the paper.

You can also try to not keep the dot in one position and move it around in about a half the size of a dime circumference.

You can also try to defocus it a little so it doesn't punch through as fast.

Also it could just be user error. Witch is what iam .

This laser was set to 1087mW in this video and i was about 8 to 10 inches away.

Yobresal Is an honest guy and like he says he test every laser before shipping.:D

Hope this Helps.

Um.... when I point mine at paper, as soon as its fully focused there are flames.
Ive only done white paper. Works real well. Maybe try some thick white printer paper?
Ignore the cheesy music ;) I did this about 3 or 4 times before I got bored and tired of putting tha paper out. This was actually the packing slip from my aixis lens, no I didnt do anything to the paper.

^I shot that video about 2 months ago. I can light it much faster now as well.:)

Not dissin ur vid, you got yours on fire faster than me. I spent forever trying to focus mine. Meant the op being flame challenged and everyone telling him its hard to set paper on fire.

Mine starts fire the best when fully focused, it does punch right on through but the edges of the hole burn.
