Posted about this in the 445nm diodes thread but I think it deserves its own thread.

I found a Casio XJ-A150 for 780 GBP or about $1173 USD. That's about $49 a diode before shipping/ profit.

I don't know if it's the real deal or not or even if anyone wants to buy it now that they are being recalled (or sold out?). Maybe it's just a pre-order.

Casio XJ-A150 [XJA150] - £780.00 : AV Partsmaster

For anyone that doesn't know it is 3000 lumens. The A140 is 2500 and the A130 is 2000.

Do I hear a GB??

EDIT: Why can't I edit the title!?

Or double click next to the thread title in the list of threads in the 445nm section, saves a bit of time.

That model doesn't seem to be available in the USA, at-least yet; 2W+ Laser diodes?

you have to go advanced to edit the title

Yeah I tried both of these and it won't capitalize the j and the a. Dunno why.

Just like the 12x Blu ray burners when they first came out. Again, I wonder why. LPF has a few British members though, and anyone could always have it shipped stateside.

Re: Xj-a150 $1173?

How can we really know the 3000 lumens have been achieved by using a more powerful laser diode? Couldn't it have been achieved with a more powerful LED stage?

Or simply a LARGER array of normal 445s? 30+ Diodes?

That would be bad on Casio's part, these things get hot enough with 24, they'd be melting with 30+. It's most likely a stronger LED, as Niko said.

LED doing +500 lumens? (or +1000 to a130) ? Interesting.

Re: Xj-a150 $1173?

The XJ-150 is "out of production." I haven't found the reason why, just the report.

Maybe they just ran out of arrays that would "bin" this high.

Peace,

Or 9mm diodes, or a diode bar ? .....

Suppose there's no way for know this, before dismantle one ..... ;)

BTW, none of my distributors have it on catalog ..... and also the 130 are disappeared ..... one still have the 140 "by order, on request" ..... perhaps someone is making confusion in the distribution .....

Those other models usually changes only the inputs sets or resolutions, not the luminosity .....

The A150 diodes surely aren't less powerful than A140 diodes. Seems worth some kind of gamble, as the A150 projectors look to be disappearing before they really show up.

Does anybody know of other sources for such diodes at anywhere close to this price?
