Howdy all I am back in the shop now and Western Winter Blast 27 was the best, we had some really good shows and some excellent big shells made by the members there were wonderful set pieces also, here are a few pictures and a link to the big show on Sat night, there was a extra treat put on by the Flaming Lotus Girls and there flaming egg that can put out colored flames, yep that is blue red and orange flames coming out of the egg in the center of the field.

If you are interested in pyro you should think about joining a pyro club in your area if you need any help in doing that I would be glad to give you some, for those in the west the Western Pyro Association is the one to join> https://westernpyro.org/ there are many across the country so check em out.

Here is the FLG's egg that shoots the different colored fire. You can find out more about the FLG at> http://flaminglotusgirls.com/

Here is a 8" multi break salami shell, which is an Italian design originally. So this one was a 3 break salami, two color breaks and a bottom shot which is a big salute or very loud BOOM.

My friend making a 10" ball shell

Part way through the 1st 1/2, it's filled when I started taking pictures, but you can see the stars the (round pellets) on the outside and the burst (powder coated rice hulls) in the center.
The other 1/2 of the shell is on the left it is covered with red tissue paper.

In this half serpents were placed and they will stream outwards when the shell bursts to make a ringed display, it's called a Saturn shell.

Then the half's are put together

Then the shell is wrapped on a WASP machine with gummed paper tape till it's the correct size and wall thickness.

And dried in the sun for a day

Then a lift charge and leader is attached and the shell is ready to fire :eg:

Here is a 16" being filled and finished with two time fuses.

A 36" and two 24" shells.

The boys from Colorado made this "set piece" see if you can tell what it is :D
hint it's green when it's lit up.

We have other things happening at times.

Here is a link to the WPA Western Winter Blast Grand Public Display 2016> https://vimeo.com/155633607

As with any fire works no camera can capture the full effect and most colors never come out correctly either in hue or brilliance, so you'll just have to come out for the full effect :eg:

I hope you enjoyed the post it was fun being there and helping and any one interested in attending a blast may contact me anytime on this station.

Jeff,
That was spectacular awesome displays I never seen a show like that. I can't get over how everything comes together. From manufacturing to display well put together Great Thread to

Rich:)

You get started by having a love for pyro then you could join a fireworks club in your area and if one is not close then the second thing would be to look in the yellow pages for a fireworks display company closest to you and give them a call
and tell them you are interested in pyro and want to know if they can use any help with there displays, they are always looking for new meat to punish and like anywhere else you will start at the bottom and work your way up to lead shooter.

Most of all HAVE FUN AND BE SAFE !

Super cool! How did you get started in the business/hobby?

Jeff -- that's some great pyro and you gotta
love the new NC choreography to the music.
Have fun and STAY GREEN !!!!!!
HMike

This was very interesting. Thanks for the write up
Screw college. Fireworks ftw

Looks like you now how to have fun Jeff, they were some huge bangers there mate, I love fireworks! It's a shame there illegal in Australia but you here them going off from time to time, so there still around unless there gun shots, nahh but New Years Sydney always puts on a great show. Nice bro!

We just last year got mortar shells back on our legal list, I buy the 500gr display boxes because they put on the best show.
I would love to work with the big stuff, but just having aerials again is nice.

Colorado boys sweet leaf.

In 1994 I got to meet several people from Howard's Fireworks and I have to say they all were the nicest people in fireworks I have meet, they are members of the PGI which is international and came over here to attend a PGI convention, I still have and wear a firework T shirt they gave me and it has there company name on it :D

Maybe some day the laws will turn around for you guys also, it might happen faster if the government heard from more fireworks people, just thinking

Glad to hear you got some back that had been taken away by the government, see that shows there is hope, one of the clubs I belong to the PGI is responsible for many of the fire work laws being rewritten in favor of US the people , anyone wishing to join look here there are many years of pictures to check out and you don't have to be a member to see them but you do have to be a member to go to convention once a year, see here> PGI (Pyrotechnics Guild International) and click on PHOTOS and see what we do at convention.
