You could go to a hardware store and buy one of these:
It's what I use, and it works great. They're in the plumbing section.
There are definitely better designs out there, but if you need one quickly this will work perfectly.
Shibby, thanks guys, I kind of wanted like an official one that takes the whole aixiz module "with back end flipped" and then you slide it in a small metal tubular device, and screw the top part of the tubular vevice down. i remember seeing them. they had pin protection and stuff i think. someone here on LPF had them i think?
THAT would be cool.
Or I could find a solid peice of steel thats the right diameter to fit into an aixiz module's a** and then Drill a hole through the pre-existing aixiz hole, and drill it about 1.3CM so it can handle the pins of ANY diode.
But the only issue with this design, is it offers no "slip" protection... anyone ever WIPED all 3 pins off a diode using the backwards aixiz module press method with a crappy C-clamp? thats an issue i worry about with my diode press's
A 3/16 barb has an opening that will fit any size diode (5.6mm only, obviously).. you've just gotta use a little finesse with them. If there is a whole press you can buy, I would also be interested in seeing and perhaps buying one..
I will be selling diode Presses on This Web site coming soon now too. I realize there is potential for this. i will find the PERFECT, and cheapest device for pressing as possible. I will make sure its made out of a VERY hard metal, as to never "give"
preferably i'd like it to be a NO-VICE needed type press
Maybe make a metal shell to put Monks press is that would enclose the entire press, and just screw the Shell tight so you wouldnt need a vice.
We'll see if its practicly or not.
Any takers on machining me about 10 diode presses of some sort? "possibly the design above?" will pay for the bulk order obviously lol
Let me know, i bought one from monk, but i need many many more quality ones.
can be built very easy, and if you have access to some machines, also "professionally looking", not like the hand-made one i built .
Do you need some draws ? ..... can make some decent draws of the one i built for me, and post them, if you want to see if worth the effort (not today, anyway, i'm out til tomorrow night, sorry)
I just used a leather punch to pop out the old BRD and install a new one. I used the smaller punch to pop out the diode from the front and the larger one to install it from the back. I did grind down the punch tips so it would not cut into the diode. I also added a small piece of wood on the punch pan with a slight angle so the AXI mod will be straight when the punch comes down. You have to move the wheel a little to line it up, but it worked pretty fast once I figured it out. Here's a PIC of the punch!
