Wicked Lasers GIANT price drops!?

Tony, I've dealt with a lot of green lasers. Enough of them that I can be somewhat sure it's not out of reach for a manufacturer to do.

I have got modules from O-like that do 225mW that fit an AAA pen. No, you can't run them for a minute straight. But, I think an AA host, which would provide some sinking around that module, could be quite capable of 300mW for 30 second duty cycles.

I don't know for sure. I just think that a manufacturer could do it if they put their mind to it. That's all. I stated that I would surely pay more. I don't want a huge deal. I just want more output. :tinfoil:

Cmak,

Since you suggested it, make the petition thread!

It couldn't hurt!

Have a vote for "Do you want to see more power in Wicked Laser Evolution series?"

I think the best idea would be to aim it at a host we want directly like that. I also think a lot of us would be quick to realizing that the Evo AA host is much better than any AAA host, and is essentially required for such output requirements and increased sinking.
It's 4:45am where I live so I'm gonna probably work on getting a petition setup and running tomorrow. Personally, I think the 2010 Evo's (formerly known as the "Pro series") are one of the biggest innovations involving pen hosts in recent memory. The whole idea of rugged 2xAA Pen hosts is excellent for high powered Greenies, and certainly a MUCH better idea than trying to cram close to 300mW in a tiny little 1xCR2 host. Also I'm seriously digging the finish, being an owner of one of the CNI Black 'n Gold GLP hosts (which, after a little while, just so happens to start losing its black paint finish and eventually becomes half black half gold).
I'd like to see evos up to 200mw @ maybe 250-300$. Start the thread, and see what happens.
Once again, I'll get started on the petition thread tomorrow
Dollar Value of Wicked Bucks = 0.15 x Dollar Value of Purchase.

A $1,000 purchase gives you $150 worth of Wicked Bucks, or 15,000 Wicked Bucks.
With their new updated pricing points, I doubt they can afford to still be offering the whole Wicked Bucks thing, especially with the whole "Get 15% worth of the orders of anybody you refer in WB"... but then again with these prices, one can't really complain :p

I think more of the problem is that AA's can't handle the current draw necessary to drive a pump diode hard enough to get 300mW+ of green.

I've been stalking out their 'Wicked Stand' ever since the recent video release.

However I was going to wait until things start shipping regarding the pending orders and I see now that it has disappeared from their inventory.

Any chance they'll acquire a tripod company and bring this back for $7.50? heh

Things like that are disappearing, looks more like "Sell Off" than anything else; let see if they are still around next month.

...Come again?

I'm getting problems with wicked at my house, but at my friends' (that would be belonging to plural friends) it works just fine.

Yeah, the website is down sometimes, they're having problems with their servers.

Also, do the petition thread. If you get to at least 10 people and a cereal box I'll personally ask him to seriously take the cereal box into account...er... the higher powered Evo's into account :p

If/when the thread starts i'm sure most will realize how great it would actually be. Plus the power would be a great innovation to what they have now.

if they make good on 445 spyder soon i will for sure be buying some other discounted lasers from them....if they dont i believe this will be very bad for WL....nobody will trust them anymore... there communication sucks as it is ...

i like cr2 batteries...... they are not so bad like all people say........ and is BETTER to buy a cr2 laser.... then a 2xaaa or 2xaa laser. WHY????

because tests are done WITH ALCALINES........and only 5% of lasers owners use alkalines... mostly uses NIMH... at 1.4v max... but average 1.33......1.28..... so you buy a 150mw laser... tested 160... but it is a real 140 mw or 135.... with nimh....

if you buy a tested LIONNNNNNNNNNN laser.... it "must" be at the power that was tested.... all IMO!

That's not necessarily true...
For cheap generic Chinese lasers, maybe. But Wicked uses CNI modules in their lasers, and CNI lasers have regulation that actually works.
NiMH batteries should be able to provide sufficient power. The CNI drivers in the pens will regulate down to ~2.4V input, so a pair of good NiMH rechargeables will be fine down to 1.2V per cell, when loaded.

I'm still considering buying myself a sonar extreme price is amazing but the company scares me away from it.
