This is meant to be a casual/curiosity thread where you can simply post what excess diodes/modules happen to be awaiting homes in your laser parts box.

I'll start:

  • One 9mm Diode Spectro'd at 452nm
  • One 9mm Diode w/ 2.2A Driver
  • Two LPC-826 660nm Diodes
  • One PHR-806T 405nm Diode
  • Two 532nm Modules - Roughly 50mW Each
  • Two 900mW 808nm Diodes
  • One 680nm Module w/ Driver
  • One 400mW 532nm CNI Module in need of driver and OC lens

So, what projects do you currently have on hold. What is in your laser diode box?

Not much lately, 9mm 445nm with 2.1A x-drive, PL520 with Micro-Boost drive 310mA, couple of PHR-803's and LPC-826's!

Have a nice day,
Jim

My diode box.
1 1 watt 808nm c_mount.
1 80mW 650nm diode.

projects on hold

•1 200mW DPSS green Suwtech lab laser with damaged IR filter. Reason on hold. Need optical adhesive and ir filter.

•1 Suwtech 50mW lab laser in need a driver and a 1 watt open can 9mm pump diode.

Let me think

Two 9mm diodes,
two A-130,
one Mit's 500mw,
one PL520,
one 100mw 405nm diode,
a few 10mw 635nm,
and about ~12 Fasttech 532 modules.

So yah a few.

4* 9mm diodes
1* PL520
3* 3.8mm 660nm diodes
2* LPC826
2* IR cmount
3* M140
1* 12x diode
2* PHR diodes
1* FAP
+Too many random IR diodes to count

WHAT?! Do some of you collect diodes more than lasers or do you just have a 5 year plan for your next projects?

I am almost embarrassed to say, only one PLTB450B

Pfft, embarrassed by only one diode. heres my list:

I have drawings. I have designs. But designs are a shell without souls to breathe life into them. That is why I have these diodes. They are the life to fill my host designs.

I view my unused diodes as saving for a rainy day when I cannot afford laser parts or cannot import them easily. And yes I need more as well :p

I have... nothing :(

Whatever I have I build it as soon as I can.

I am surprised that so many people have diodes lying around. For me it is usually the other way around.
I usually have hosts lying idle for ages before money starts to recoup and I can start ordering diodes.

If I had heaps of diodes laying around I would start ordering hosts as soon as possible.

Or if money is to low, experimenting with cheap hosts and machining heatsinks for them. Can't let a project sit idle :)

Do you want us to list lasers too?? :na:

I have a 25 year plan. Those are just my laser projects in a multi hobby highly ambitious endeavor.

I wish I had a 25 year plan 25 years ago. Its too late for me now.

Thanks crazyspaz, I don't feel so alone now.

That is a good way to think, I guess they will always have value and you could also sell some of them if you ever needed to.

Ughh.

I have about

30 LOC 815's
2 M140 445s
1 12x 405
1 8x 405
1 Mitsubishi 300mw 638
11 C mount 808 - 1 watt
50+ misc 650/808/etc 9 mm diodes all .5 watt or more
plus more than I can count in other diodes.

I guess I need to start some building. :)

What is terrible about this is I have at least half a dozen empty hosts also, including 3 Kryton Grooves and one VERY OLD Host with an original Meredith Glass module I bought years ago, waiting for a diode. :)

I need more time.

Sort of the same mentality as buying a toy and never taking it out of the box. Thats no fun. What if you died tomorrow or got into an accident that stopped the use of your hands? Toys are meant to be played with. When you're done with them you sell them and buy new toys.

We'll always be able to get parts. They cant even stop complete lasers from getting through. Laser parts are so far down at the end of the list of the governments priorities that we'll be dead and gone by the time it gets to parts restriction. I honestly doubt it will ever happen.

Yeah kind of like those people that collect Playboy magazines unopened still in the wrapper. That never made sense to me. Of course you must have the use of at least one hand to look at a magazine.

Any pics of the old hosts?

One thing I want to do is create a desk piece that is a DPSS laser completely exposed with all the pieces showing. I just want to see the steps and imagine the changes. Also, they look cool. There, there is one of my non-pointer ideas :)

I have quite a few diodes piling up! I guess my excuse is that I tend to rip my laser projects apart soon after I build them, and plus I like to wait till I have the perfect host for each particular diode when building handhelds.

This is what I can remember:
NDB7675 1.4W 462nm
a few M140s
some 2W+ c-mount 808nm diodes
a few 685nm diodes/module
~8 LPC-815 diodes
a few ~100mW 532nm modules
and of course an assortment of 808nm/780nm diodes

I do have one of the new Nichia 3.5W laser diodes coming in from DTR soon, but I doubt that will stay in the diode box for long!
