C-mounts are a little harder to come across though, granted you generally get A LOT more power.
Actually C-Mounts are very common and very cheap for the power.

I'm going to have to go with a C-mount, you could build 5 WATT 808nm handhelds for a couple hundred dollars, or a 2 Watt for about a hundred. (not including the barrel)[/quote]

C-mounts are common, I'll agree, and they are great for the powers, but the majority I have seen on eBay are IR.

I didn't say they were uncommon, I just said they aren't as common as 5.6mm diodes .

If the C-ryton idea wins, we should have a c-mount GB too!

now THAT s a great idea !

Should be able to get different colored diodes as well ranging through 635 - 650 - 808 - 980 etc

I would want 100-150mW 635nM C-mount! :D

I can also very easily make a c-mount labby. Not to mention with lava's newer driver the flexmod it will easily work for scanners. Not to mention lava also mentioned working on a tec controller so that you could mount your module onto a TEC.

I love that 35mw green module. I actually wanted to see if I could mount it on a kryton, but I am going to have to go with the c-mount because c-mounts are so powerful. [smiley=evil.gif]

The DX 35 labby module ?? Wouldn't be worth your while, it needs the heatsink on it, and even without its too big anyway .

i've already worked out a bit of the dimensions. 30mm wide, 30mm tall, 60mm deep with a seperation in half for access to the diode and chamber for the driver.

I like the idea of a C-mount Kryton. Not a labby though.

You know you love it, haha.

Edit: I'm leaving to go the snow for four days. You won't be seeing me around for a while. Wasn't important enough for a new topic so I whacked it in here. Cya dudes.

Now is that big enough to run a 5W C-mount, with a continuous duty cycle?
