What lights do you have?

Here is my newest addition. Ultrafire RL-2088

Uses 3X18650's and feel amazing to hold. Very nice host.

I'm surprised there's not that much difference. I'd almost prefer the Aurora for size and tint... Is it that much brighter?

It is only rated for 300 lumen more than the P7. So no big gain there. But it has such a great host and it does have a nicer color light compared to the P7. Still all in all the P7 is still a great little flash light.

Daze them with the strobe and then whack them on the head:beer:

So the P7 is on the left? I assumed it was on the right because of the picture right before it. Looks really nice!

In this comparison shot the RL-2088 is on the left and the SSC P7 is on the right

So many options... i just have a few rather flimsy flashlights myself, and one converted mxdl with a good Q5 emitter in it and driver to match.

I love bright lights, but in practical application i use them mostly on holidays, which poses a problem for the batteries, unless i want to take a charger along too.

Perhaps i should build something insanely bright that runs off 6 AA alkalines if need be - if i ever have time to do so ;)

My 30 lumen powerhouse..

This light isn't very bright, but will last a lifetime. I want to build a more complex version with supercaps when I get the money. That way I won't have to deal with the electrolyte depleting in the cells. I like efficiency and reliability more than anything, which would be useful during emergency times.

For emergencies i keep a CR2032 powererd led light in my keychain at all times, but thats just one flimsy 5mm led.. good to find a keyhole, not good if you want to see anything else ;)

So you prefer a cooler beam? I usually just assume people like warm tints better.

Most people like warm tints better... the only time I've heard of a cool beam being better is when working inside a computer case.

I have a 2xCR2032 that came free from lighthound (all orders include them I think) and it is actually VERY bright for the size. Probably 5 or 10 lumens. Trust me, that's blindingly bright at night. My most used mode on my quark is the .2 lumens mode. I'm thinking about putting some super glue in all the screw holes, around the edges, etc. to make it waterproof. It would make a great disposable necklight if I wanted one (it's even power regulated, and has constant on/off with no visible switch). I don't keep it on my keychain only because I already have a maratac which is many times brighter on high.
