Wasn't sure whether to put this here, or in the multimedia section, but since no pics are her, I chose Other :p

I'm looking for a decent camera that will differentiate colors well, and pick up beams, shutter speed adjustments, etc. Basically, good for taking macro shots and beam shots of my laser builds, as well as nature and all that other froofy junk.

Old but good. Panasonic FZ50 or my phone for pictures that aren't important.

Fuji HS10, bought it as it does highspeed video, but I love it. It's discontinued now though :(

I have a couple of Canon 35mm cameras, but these days I find myself using my iPhone for most day-to-day snaps. I don't have any real experience with photographing laser beam shots, so I will likely use my 35mm cameras for experimenting (long exposures, different film speeds, IR photography, etc). I haven't had a chance to search to archives for laser-photography tips yet, but if I can't find anything, I'll be sure and write a beginners guide after I figure stuff out. I've been shooting a long time (landscapes are my favorite), so learning the ins and outs of laser photos will be a fun addition.

Cheers!

Got a 1D mk IV with a few fast lenses - simply amazing and my old 20 D, which is still really good. Id recommend a 5D mk 2 (or mk 3 but more pricey) or the 7D if you want something good from canon and not excessively expensive.

5D3 with a few lenses.

Though.. the title of this thread and the body of this thread are asking different things.
If you're on a budget it'll be difficult to shoot macro with a DSLR, unless you get a mount a reversed prime to a zoom.

I don't have one of these yet but I think this is one of the Coolest innovations in Photography in a while. Not very expensive and I think the potential for Laser photography is huge...

There are a lot of really good cameras out there, any of the ones mentioned above would probably work for you depending on your budget. The Lytro is something different. It actually just captures light. You can interactively focus anywhere in the photo after you taken the image. You can also actually pan and tilt your view in the resulting image. Pretty remarkable I think. As it captures light I was very curious how it will work with lasers. I will pick one up after I take care of some Laser related commitments  It's around $200 if I remember correctly and they have some really cool interactive photos you can check out on the site...

Best of luck on your quest Bloompyle, I need a camera soon too :D

Agreed that is a nice picture. I've got a Cannon Rebel T3I and love it, especially with a good macro lens.
