Well good bye, It's been fun while it lasted....

There's nothing like a fresh diode, I put a fresh 44 in one of my daily drivers and it's all tuned up and burning well.

What current are you driving at?

I run mostly at 4.5 amps but am thinking I might push these most recent 44-81 diodes up to 4.75 amps.

I have run at 5.0 before but not in a while because the 44 diodes I have last a long time at 4.5a, but I can see a small bump in the burning ability at 5.0a , of course a big heat sink is a must.

Glad you worked through everything and your Hammer is up and running. Time to buy a new ceiling fan. :)

What ever DTR sets it at, I believe 4.5 amps ?

They make a tool for safely removing diodes from modules. It would seem you could benefit from one.
You know i have a tool but i still dented it somehow ? Or i should say "I" still dented it somehow......

If ever I find myself in the doldrums all I need to do is come here for some entertainment. You guys are hysterical. God Bless all of you!
I wish there was some simple way to align 10 NUBM44s in one heatsink, collimate them, and do some really nice damage! Dream on!

It could be done, but it will be complex and expensive, you might as well just build a Co2 laser, they have good beam quality too.

I am waiting for the 1 big diode projector, the NBBD40 and NBBD60 as in n1ch1@ big blue diode 40w and 60w, I have cash in hand, bring them on already.

I can see my heat sink with a big cavity for the ice water because I going to push that bugger to the edge until it starts changing colors.

NBBD40 and NBBD60 ?

Yea, something like this in the 40,50,60 watt range.

What do you see next? A stacked array? 1 big diode would work well with a phosphor wheel. But what are your thoughts of what the 2018 units may contain ?

Possibly 4 dies in one diode like those mitsu 2 and 3 beam reds? Hell if they group well that could be cool.

I think the new exotic wavelengths at extremely reasonable prices are what we have to look forward to in the near future. For high power diodes, it's anybody's guess. I never can predict those....... they just show up.

Well I know they want the highest possible efficiency as well as the wavelength that works the best with their phosphors to make green, eventually a 5000 lm projector may have a 5w green, 5w blue and 5w red but the green efficiency is still very bad.

I hope we get a big blue in place of the 16 and 32 nubm06 engines that pump phosphor, but once the green gap is fixed the big blues won't be needed.

Redcowboy, keep the other fist open because my cash is ready for that dream diode. Burn baby burn.

I pray everynight for a projector containing brand new 10 watt blues and 5 watt greens!!!

If/when they come, they won't be cheap. I guess prayer is as good as anything else you could do. Might want to buy a lottery ticket the day you get the first one.

I for the moment am going to have to either grow more arms or put more diodes into each build, I have too many single diode builds and holding 1 in each hand seems to be my limit.

Here's a recent toy I added to my collection, not worth a thread of it's own so I will just add it in here if that's ok ?

I'm thinking my next build will be 2 nubm44 diodes with 6X cyl correction mounted side by side all close like kissing cousins so the beams will overlap as they diverge.
