So I thought I might try to do my part to change this. heh. :na:

This is built using one of the '200mW' green modules I may start carrying after I can get more of them to test the quality. The two I have now just aren't enough sample base to get any real idea of how they behave. The two I do have are rock solid though after they warm up a few seconds. No noticeable mode hopping or intensity changes at all, though neither were 200mW. One does 160mW of actual green and the other settles down around 130mW.

This is built with the 160mW module. The drivers are 3V but I modified this one (i.e. added a diode) to make it tolerate li-ions so I could use an 18650. Wanting to use an 18650 is also the reason I ended up relocating the driver to the side of the heatsink. I could have probably left it where it was and used an 18500 and kept the same heatsink dimensions, but I wanted to use 18650's, since that's what I have.

Very cool build and a great job on locating the driver +2 for you when the board will let me !
very nice machining on the heatsink I love that front look :gj:

and good luck on finding green modules that are even close to spec I went down that road when I was doing these and they are harder to find than hen teeth :(
when you do find em let me know,Thanks ;)

X2 on the nice machine work.;) Ironically, I am currently making a custom heatsink/focus knob for the exact same host. It is gonna house a LPC-826. :eg:
I agree with you; there aren't many custom DIY greens out there. This is a really cool one though. My current green project is a mini scaled-down version reminiscent of a lightsaber housing :tinfoil:
Also, if you start selling modules and such, I would gladly buy from you. I love those 405/445 lenses.

I'll be selling heatsinks for this host (for diodes, though) once I get the finned tank clone stuff up and moving, and thanks.

I'll probably see if I can bump the power up some more once the artic silver gets here and I can glue the driver down properly. Right now the driver is still where it was set at the factory. Though getting more power just depends on how the crystals act. If it doesn't start going up noticeably as I increase current, i'll probably just put it back where it is.

I really wish I could source the 400mW modules the o-like lasers are built with.. So far I haven't had much luck though. At least not for a price that isn't double what the whole laser costs from o-like. But I am still looking.

Nice, and I have just been asking about drop-ins in mods and experiments. :D

Nice work QF.... I like the looks of the front aluminum
aperture... It has nice flowing lines...
Did it come like that or did you machine it..

I did all the machining. The host itself was just a 18650 LED flashlight, like most other hosts start life as.
