Re: Sipik HK21 18650 hosts + 405/445nm and 650nm lenses

Copper is better for longer runtimes and/or higher powers, but I think the aluminum looks better, so it's a really a tradeoff between form/function. Though to be honest, i'm going to do another batch of 10 CU heatsinks, and if they're really slow to sell, i'll probably drop that option and just focus on the aluminum ones until I come up with a different copper heatsink design that isn't two toned. That, or just not machine the 'fake fins' on the copper hosts. When the next batch of lights come in hopefully this week sometime, i'll do a copper one without the faux fins and see how it looks. Though the focus rings will still be aluminum, unless someone wants brass. I still have some brass rod stock.

And xuen, give me a minute and i'll PM you your total and my paypal address.

Ok, the people that have payed, your hosts and lenses, etc, have been shipped. The US people should get them in a few days.

The people who haven't paid... check your PM's.

Re: Sipik HK21 18650 hosts + 405/445nm and 650nm lenses

Thanks QumeFox - Awsome to deal with even with my last second questions. Looks like the Mail Man gets bum rushed Thursday or/and Friday.

Re: Sipik HK21 18650 hosts + 405/445nm and 650nm lenses

Sorry darkside. Due to the fact I had no power.. or net access, for most of yesterday (home or at the office) due to the weather, I didn't get your stuff out. It will go out today though.

BH, i'm actually down to 9 of the 445 lenses atm. Since you wanted 10 and I don't have that many, i'll still give you the 10 price break. i'll PM you the total.

Guess I need to order more. I usually try to before I run out, but i've been broke, and these haven't been a 'big mover' lately. It's taken weeks to move 50, so it figures that I go from 15 to 0 in two days heh.

I'll place an order for more as soon as china wakes up. :p

Replied to pm.

I gave you rep for offering such a sexy host :)

Re: Sipik HK21 18650 hosts + 405/445nm and 650nm lenses

Just got my host in today and i got at it right away. 1.4W of sexy blue. But then instead of using the contact board or a njg-18, I used this driver here.

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/18v-5w-cree-circuit-board-for-flashlights-16-8mm-5-5mm-26110

I changed the resistor from an r200 to a r120 and this thing can output 1.5A or maybe a bit higher. Unfortunately for me, I didnt have any more thermal expoxy at the time, and thus I couldnt heatsink the IC chip. That said, when taking the pictures, the laser was on for 3 minutes straight and thermal protection kicked in on the driver. after 15 minutes of cooling it still hits 1.4W of power so no damage done thankfully. I must heatsink the driver in order to get longer runtimes.

anyways the good:

all i can say is +1 to you Chris and SUPER job on such a sexy and badazz host. My new favorite.

another thing i love is that the 17mm diameter recess for the driver (standard size) allows us to use most round type drivers. the one i used is a buck, so i used 2 rcr123's at first the fit was tight but i removed one of the springs on the bottom (there was two for some reason), and now it fits excellent.

anyways good host, allows HUGE selection of driver choices through the pill area + contact board provided, and copper sink that didnt even get hot after 3 min on at 1.4W...frickin awesome.

EDIT: damn i must spread the love first before i give you a +1... and is this spamming ur sales thread Chris? should I have made it in the review section?

Recieved mine today,
Excellent Host. Love it
now what to put in it...mmmmmm :eg:
Thanks Again, :thanks:
RDCII

btw- love the tripod...

Re: Sipik HK21 18650 hosts + 405/445nm and 650nm lenses

Hmm. isn't that a buck only driver though? Seems like you'd start having dimming issues fairly quickly running off one Li-ion. Unless your saying it will boost as well?

Damn son, I want one of those copper ones qume! Just gotta save for a little while.

Re: Sipik HK21 18650 hosts + 405/445nm and 650nm lenses

yes its a buck driver. I managed to fit 2 GTL lr123A batteries in there. runs these guys at 1.43W in unknown charge state, when fully charged and heatsink added to IC chip, I peaked 1528mW stay around there for about 10 seconds and then drops 1mW a sec to about 1480mW which by then the host gets warm. about 1 minute on time.

Re: Sipik HK21 18650 hosts + 405/445nm and 650nm lenses

Ah hehe. ok. Yeah, that would work fine with dual cells.

I'm actually considering dropping copper as an option. I'll probably be making at least 5 more since I have the stuff, but most people seem to be asking for the aluminum ones. Unless I can speed up the manufacturing process as well, it's quite likely the price on these will go up somewhat as well. I'll know after I finish the next 20.

whoa whoa increase prices...umm in that case if the next 20 arent spoken for then you wanna put me down for an aluminum one. Also...can I get it without the tripod and aixiz module if that helps lower the price... i got a few tripods myself, and plus too many aixiz modules not to use them...
