WARNING- See if you will ever buy an Ultrafire after seeing this.....

Yet another rip off. Its sad that companies take advantage of people like this. Needless to say its worth the extra few bucks to buy quality cells

Nah, LOL, I got a good deal, I got the bonus UNKNOWN powder too, I just tipped it out before I took the pic.
I suspected they were fake when I weighed them and they were underweight compared to the genuine.

:D

ohh thats cool, atleast you didnt get ripped, haha
Just watch out with the powder, because whatever they intended it to be, it will be fake or cut with something else like the battery was!

This would make a great sticky thread for new/novice users like myself to read prior to purchasing batteries. Thanks for the info guys!

Today I decided to open a Ultrafire. I had several so I weighed each a picked the lightest one.

Here is the candidate.

Pretty sure that was a legit battery just not as advertised......way under advertised

Yea that's the lithium :) Take a cup of water outside and toss some of it in for a cool reaction.

^^^ YUP YUP:)

I just posted this in another spot but here's some more info. on that battery:

O-Like actually sells a few decent lasers BUT the 18650 batteries they are sending with them are the Ultrafires with who knows what inside them. I recently bought a couple of units from them because they owed me some $ and they both came with those cells.
Honestly didn't expect batteries or chargers with them due to all the shipping issues. Feel torn about destroying them though as I could always stick them in a build that draws very little. Would only use them individually as you never know what's actually inside them and you DON'T want mismatched cells.
Luckily out of all my lasers/batteries I only had one other 18650 ULtrafire that was all red. You can tell in your own hand without a scale that it is lighter than a normal 18650.
I'm not recommending O-Like lasers in general. Only a few that I have personally tested.

A quick sign that they are not legit is the mah rating. They can't resist upping it, so a comparison shopper will see a few more mah for the same $, etc.

The REAL pannies for example will be in set mah increments.

Commonly used are 2600, 2900, 3100 and 3400 mah.

If you see numbers higher than 3400, or, IN BETWEEN the other above ratings (3000 instead of 2900, etc...)...its fake.

It might be fake as in an old laptop cell in a new wrapper...and merely weak and already dying of old age before it even shows up in your mailbox...or a smaller cell in larger wrapper, or anything else....EXCEPT a real, accurately rated, new cell.

The cells themselves are only made by a few places, like Panasonic. All of the protected or unprotected cells you buy, take these cells, and add the protection if applicable, and a wrapper with their own label on it....and sell it as their own brand.

This is OK when a reputable seller...and, potentially deadly when its not.

One thing not mentioned are the fumes given off when these things fulminate. Some buds of mine were SEVERELY impacted by this, and suffered long-term respiratory problems, etc. You can also get eye/skin burns from the chemicals, etc.

I had ONE 16340 ultrafire flame go south on me, and, I got a blister from a burn because of it...and it only happened because someone sent me some along with another purchase, and I accidentally put one on a charger because I thought it was one of my regular ones...before chucking them all.

To me, its just not worth the risk to save a few bucks...if the house were to catch fire while the wife and kids were asleep for example, how could I live with that?

:tsk:

Was contemplating getting some of these batteries to start off with. But my better judgment told me to stay away from cheap batteries from china now I see why lol. Even though 16340's don't have this same problem will definitely go elsewhere for quality.
