(Video Added)The worlds most powerful handheld 445. 3.5W 2 LD array

Re: The worlds most powerful handheld 445..... 3.5W 2 LD array

Just a thought... Since the LOC build would be primarily to produce a nice red beam, what about using a couple of 637nm instead? Output would be somewhat lower, but the effect would be great:)

I've been thinking a lot about duplicating this build by rhd: http://laserpointerforums.com/f50/637-nm-red-guidesman-201mw-build-63080.html since to me at least, a red beam is the holy grail of lasers:)

Re: The worlds most powerful handheld 445..... 3.5W 2 LD array

Well the only 640nm I have are c-mount .5~1W and 5.6mm 7mW..
I guess I could make a dual at a whopping 14mW :thinking:

Should I happen across suitable diodes, im sure it would be
a worth while project.. To really get a nice colour in those
LD's a TEC mount icing it down has given me the desired results.

I made a dual setup in a small labby some time back with good
results. Though the design cant be the same for a handheld, I
was quite happy with the beam.

Somebody needs to break the single mode 650 barrier in a handheld
and get these up to 1W :eg:

^^^Wow... is there any smoke or glycerin in the room?

I would LOVE to have that kind of a beam in a handheld:)

rhd was able to push his lds to 200mW, although in a two ld setup that's nowhere near the 1W mark you're looking to break. The problem that seems to come up... and again still learning to forgive the newbishness... pushing LOCs to past 200mW or so also means essentially going to ~660nm, so the beam becomes less visible as a result.

Whichever way you do it... I've started saving:)

@InfinitusEquitas

For a red im looking at TEC since the current draw and voltage is
less demanding. Besides, with 445 you WANT it to wander upward
which is why ive stayed away from TEC. It would benefit 445 as far
as stability goes, but they are such brutes in pumping out mW that
I never bothered..

With 650's id like to do a dual setup and a TEC separating the internal head
from the body.

I know with my c-mounts, you can easily see the difference between a TEC'd
and non TEC'd LD.. I will be for sure adding this to the laser :D

@Jakegt

Elite lasers :crackup:

Needed that, thanks :beer:

That .com along with awesome = fail..

Im pretty sure hes referring to that thread where the guy is selling a <250mW as
a .5~1W 650 for $299.

You don't believe him? But he metered it! He wouldn't lie, would he?

Internet people are all honest, right? :rolleyes:

If we were as gullible as he thinks we are, I'm not sure we could live normal lives.

Re: The worlds most powerful handheld 445..... 3.5W 2 LD array

Come on guys! He showed us an LPM picture of just the LPM reading saying 1.2W. It obviously was 650nm red, because why wouldn't he show the laser on the thermopile? I for one believe him and am very amazed at the price tag of $299 for a 1W red laser. WOW! What an awesome deal! Elite lasers, you have my heart, and my wallet!!

And your welcome wannaburn, I chuckled while typing it

Can't wait to see some Red:)

Re: The worlds most powerful handheld 445..... 3.5W 2 LD array

nice reeeeeeeeeeeed i love reeeeed :) :wave::can:

i have one question though.. I don't know what TEC stands for.. and I couldn't find it ?
I would appreciate some info about that so I can understand what do you mean :D thanks
