(Video Added)The worlds most powerful handheld 445. 3.5W 2 LD array

Re: The worlds most powerful handheld 445..... 3.5W 2 LD array

But will it burn? preferably while being recorded on video....

Re: The worlds most powerful handheld 445..... 3.5W 2 LD array

That is impressive. Thinking about the price makes my hear sink. :(

Re: The worlds most powerful handheld 445..... 3.5W 2 LD array

Oh man I just saw this thread...

Sure wish I could see the inside! :D

Nice build!

Some things are best kept secret ;) Best for who, is another story :eg:
I made good use of those 405-G1 lenses.. very effective at delivering
all that power. Thanks again for the speedy delivery of those

This is amazing man! Congratulations! Very nice!
:lasergun:
Nice Monster

Thanks :D Lots of work went into this.. appreciate the comments.

This is EPIC no other words to describe it, just truly amazing. If you dont mind me asking, how much did you spend on it and how much did you sell it for. Had to be one pretty penny (but worth it )

The 3 units im making are going for in and around 1,000. The parts
alone ran around 300. coupled with the many hours it took to make..

Who needs 4W diodes when we have wannaburn?? +100 for you my friend! Now to start selling more crap to save up moneys for worlds most powerful handheld 445!!!

Best be quick! There are 2 remaining, one of which may already be sold...

But will it burn? preferably while being recorded on video....

Video and burning are obligatory... more to come :san:

That is impressive. Thinking about the price makes my hear sink. :(

What hurts is not being able to keep one :cryyy: Out of the 3 made total
im afraid I will be selling them all...

Re: The worlds most powerful handheld 445..... 3.5W 2 LD array

Damn, that´s a lot of power! Did you measure the divergence/diameter?

Btw, any news on my RPL-425 yet?

Re: The worlds most powerful handheld 445..... 3.5W 2 LD array

ouch. I've been declared woman-like! I am, though, confident that I am male *looks down*
yep, still male.

In my defense the laser was not fully assembled. I see that in the first pictures the switch assembly and whatnot doesn't exist yet, and the head appears to be running off an external power supply. When everything else is assembled - lenses(which lower output), switches(which add resistance), and of course, battery (which could potentially decrease output) - I am sure you all know the output will be at least slightly lower. That is what I'd like to know, how much power that beast will get you while operating as it's supposed to. Perhaps I worded my post too rudely, but we all know that real life operation is less than ideal.

Can I see a power graph please?

You need to read and understand what you read....
The Woman thing was directed at Wannburn...
But if you are looking for attention then that that
works for me too..;)

I have never seen an On/Off Switch assembly lower
the output of a Laser unless it was defective..
The switch goes BEFORE the driver not after the
Driver...
I'm 100% sure that Wannaburn uses new prime stock
for his builds... not surplus eBay stuff...

Again you need to read all the posts...
The lenses ARE installed to be able to combine the
beams...

Again you need to read all the posts...
It has been posted on this Thread that the batteries
that have been tested should give about 45minutes of
total run time....And in the 1st Post it states the type
of batteries

I'm sure wannaburn would supply you a power graph
with your order...

Seeing that we have some of these diodes running at just over 2W each.....4W build anyone? Ha. That would require a lot of crazy heat sinking for sure...and prolly would not last long!

Sounds so great and rewarding......

Not really. Just fun. I like round numbers :-P

Hm. 3 is pretty round, so is 8...

Re: The worlds most powerful handheld 445..... 3.5W 2 LD array

The diodes are set to a somewhat 'safe' current as once you have to
line everything up, changing out a dead LD is the last thing you want. :undecided:

One of the LD's is putting out 1.92W at a hair over 1.3A. With the
405-G1, that same (or similar) LD would easily give over 2W without
stressing it too much.

For builds like this, I save my 'cherry picked' LDs. I was going to go
for a 4+W but will reserve that for a 3 LD build :D

All I can say is im very pleased with the 405-G1 lenses... Although
the divergence is not that great on the 445 LD's, Lavas optics seem
to pick up the slack just fine. The power would be lower with aixiz glass
lenses, but I think they would improve the beam a bit.

I havent measured the divergence yet, but its about 1/3 if not less than
that of an aixiz and no correction...

EDIT: Disregard this, I just saw your comment above about jayrob's lenses...

As far as I know, that's a longer FL lens with the same diameter as the 405-G-1 lens. So more power is internally wasted by hitting the side of the module.

Can the internals be adjusted to compensate for the worse divergence of the shorter FL lens? :)

Wow, I just see the dual LD build and then talk of a 3 LD build! I see where you are going with this.........

q_q I can't use the age old TL;DR excuse? :cryyy:

I like attention but not that kind of attention, LOL.

regarding switch resistance: oh, I see. guess it doesn't apply with lasers as much as it applies with flashlights. I would assume it's the same concept. In my experience even the best switches have resistance by design.

I am sure Wannaburn uses top notch materials. looks awesome! :yh: Not sure what parts you can get as surplus ebay stuff but I'm sure a lot of those projectors over at PL use that sort of stuff... anyways, rambling here.

Lenses? oh. observant fellow I am.

Type of batteries, yeah, I assumed he ran the head off a lab supply in that picture he took. I assume I'm wrong.

poor student here- so I can't afford something like that. I'm here for the SCIENCE! *gesticulates wildly* :wtf:

Re: The worlds most powerful handheld 445..... 3.5W 2 LD array

Needs a 'goggles on before entering' warning.
I had a feeling you were working on a multi diode handheld so mine were at the ready.

Don't feel bad... I'm not a student... and I can't afford this
beast either at the present time...;)
Need to develop a higher power LaserBee.... me thinks..:shhh:
