I found this news today:
Myfoxdc.com
I don't think it is a UFO, rather a 445 laser on the clouds. The color is definetly 445 blue. Can it be? What do you think?

a 1 watt 445 nm is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from strong enough to get 6 miles high ( yes IN !clear weather ) and to make a dot in the clowds unless it's 10 watts of blue or even more :p

It depends on the height of the cloud ceiling. I've made dots on clouds here - but the banks were only at a couple hundred feet.

I've made dots on clouds with my dilda. A watt of 445nm could easily do it too, I imagine.

but why the beam is invisible?

Most the time I test my beam I put it in a holster and walk from my backyard (at night) to the street (mind I say It's not far from the street to my backyard :p ) and the beam is completely invisible due to the city lights of San Diego(the video seems to be in city also :p . Yet I can take a pair of binoculars and put a beam on satellite dishes atop telephone towers that are around 3-4 miles away easily :)

Hope that helps

I doubt anyone would be stupid enough to point their laser skyward for upwards of 10 minutes.

Thats a UFO
It can't be a laser as no one would be stupid enough to point a laser into the sky, you could hit an airplane doing that :tsk:

I do it all the time. Its not illegal unless you are pointing it in airspace or at a plane.
