tweaking a 400mW green laser

Ok, a few clarifications. Twilyte, the "Penetrator" model was a 400mW, not 700. I have a 700mW on order from boblaser. It's in the larger black plastic housing, with a larger diameter at the front, and key swith at the rear. it's a very generic look, I've seen it on many of the higher powered lasers. Everyone seems very suspicious. ROCKETPARRETLET seems to think all dealers are a fraud. I have dealt with a couple of the places he listed, and they have provided good products, and dealt fairly. In cases where I've returned products for whatever reason, they've provided prompt refunds. That includes Wicked Lasers, and Highlasers. So, I'm not sure what his motivation or experience is.

Anyhow, once I get my Laserbee, and 700mW (claimed) laser, I will let you all know the results. It almost seems people don't want this thing to work out. Skepticism and pessimism are two different things. Many here seem to be subject to the latter.

Oh well, I think high powered lasers are cool, and I'm having fun with them.

Ok, I got tied up between highlasers and boblasers. Really not sure if there was a big difference between the two... In any case, we will see the results and I will not say anything further. :-X

Well, I have to say, everyone's skepticism here is completely justified... There are a LOT, (read: the vast majority) of companies out there selling underspec'd green lasers.. Anyone saying they're ordering an extremely high powered laser from an unknown company is bound to be met with skepticism and warnings of the possible fraud you're about to encounter.

I'm glad you've bought a power meter, and I certainly hope boblaser is willing to refund the laser if it does not meet their advertised specs.

We're speaking from experience here, we've seen far too many people on here saying they bought some 200mW green laser off ebay and it turns out to be <20mW... We're just trying to help.

I have no problem with skeptcism, I encourage it. People need a lot more of it, especially when it comes to ghosts, UFO's, and religion. Ok, sorry don't mean to go off in that direction. Anyhow, my point was, being skeptical is different from being negative, and argumentative. I'd imagine that most people here would like to have a 700mW laser pointer themselves. Hmm, I seem to remember something about this sort of thing in Psyh101.

I finally got a tracking number, and my laser is currently in the air. I should have it by tomorrow! However, kind of surprisingly my Laserbee hasn't arrived yet either, and it's been ten days since I paid for it. Hopefully it twill arrive at the same time.

Just wait, it's gonna have a 7000000W output. Ok, maybe that's a little excessive, truthfully, I'd be happy with anything over 500mW WITH the IR filter on.

By the way, when I first mentioned tweaking my 400mW green, after all uproar, someone mentioned substituting the 3.6V 18650 battery for two CR123. I never did that on the more expensive green laser, but I have a much cheaper 300mW red. I put two CR123 batteries in it, and it resulted in a very noticable power increase. I've been impressed with the burning power. This was a couple of weeks ago, and it's still running strong. If it blows up, oh well, it was relatively cheap. Just thought I'd mention that it's worked fairly well. Anyone else done this with success, or is an early death inevitable with this set up?

Hey Lowell...
the delivery times from Canada to the USA for a LaserBee I is
anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks as can be attested by members here on LPF that
have ordered one from us...
Not to worry... It IS Insured... 8-)

I know what it's like to wait daily for a new toy... ;)

Canada Post CAN be VERY slow. This has nothing to do with Lasersbee. He ships quickly and packages well. Once the package is in the hands of Canada Post, it is beyond his control.

Peace,
dave

Doesn't the Canadian government know I want to test my new toy? Wait, let me translate into Canadian... "donchya know I want my new toy, eh? ;)

If only the Canadian Government gave a crap about your new toy..... eh....;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

BTW... as soon as your package crosses the Canada/USA boarder it is in the
hands of the USPS postal Gorillas... ::) ::) ::)

15% of my package arrived smashed. A few got lost and some were missing! -canadapost is a fail.

It looks like the laser is going to arrive before the meter. :-/ Gosh, I can my packages faster from a communist country than one that just has socialized medicine. ;D

Aghh!!!! It was supposed to be here already. Customs sucks! This is what I've been checking every five minutes for the last two days.

Yeah not to bum you out, but that laser will probably never touch your hands. Clearance delay means DHL is checking your shit. Unless it has all the safety features and/or an FDA acession number, it's not going anywhere.

I had some PHR sleds that got stuck in customs through DHL, and these are only sleds!!! not complete lasers.... I had to write the FDA a freakin' essay (letter of intent) before they were released to me, and they are perfectly legal to import. Your laser is most likely NOT legal to import, so although I may be a bit premature in saying this, I'm sorry for your loss :-[

Oh, and BTW, handhelds will go higher than 500mW easily.

Mine was doing 700mW and the pump diode was still half a watt UNDER it's rated power 8-)
