The XBOX 360 HD-DVD high power laser thread

Daguin,

Any updates on the psxboy sled diodes? I know you don't have your meter right now, but i'm sure you can tell by the brightness if they are better than your Blue Rays.

Or do we know for sure by now, that the psxboy PHR-803T does indeed have the good diode and not just the digital mark?

Sorry, I haven't built it into anything yet. ALL of the markings and notations on the PHR-308T sled agree with what Climbak has found to be consistent with the higher powered diodes. There is no confusion about "version numbers" or "manufacture dates" with the sleds. The only confusion has been when buying the XBox360 add-on unit. The sleds with the lower powered diodes are NOT the PHR-803T sled. The lower powered ones are the DT0811 sleds.

I know that I am not the most credible source here, but how about this? The confidence in the PHR-803T sled carrying the higher powered diode in it is high enough that drlava has already ordered some.

Peace,
dave

Mine shipped this morning so I'll update with pictures once it arrives... Hopefully there'll be some left next week... :)

Well, i've ordered three myself. But that is of course for confirmation, that they really are the good ones plus a lot of hope. :)

Once i test them, i'll be ordering more, if they turn out ok.

I have ordered as few as it definitely looks like they are the good ones.  How good remains to be seen, but I'll be happy if they turn out to be even surplus 40mW rated 2x burner diodes.  You can be sure I'll post the P-I-V graphs as soon as they come in!

climback, how's that hot test going? any output fade?

I havent checked on it today, but as of yesterday at about 50 hours in, still going strong. The way we have it hooked up, there is no way to test it's output. We have it shining on a photodiode which is hooked up into a op-amp/comparitor circuit driving an analog watch with date so when it dies, the watch stops. If the output has dropped at all, it's not much though. We have it set up so the photodiode is outputting a voltage just over the comparison voltage so if it stops lasing or drops significantly in power output, the watch will stop ticking. I probably won't be on that side of town today, but I will be tomorrow evening so I will stop by to check on it. I'm looking forward to your graphs. My tests were fairly crude since we didn't need specific outputs, just a general idea.

I kinda doubt, they will just dissapear within two weeks...

Well, seeing that one, they're an old run of sleds, two, not many places have them in stock and three, people are buying the hell out of them, they've got to run out some time...

I realize they might run out, even tho we don't know for sure about the "old" part, except for one chinglish page saying so. And if they are being replaced by a different one, that doesn't mean, they are not manufactured anymore.

I think they'll last more than two weeks.. ;)

Here's hoping so! $40 for the output they're giving out is something not to be missed...

Hope springs eternal . . . . .

I know that most of us here focus on the most power that we can squeeze out, but remember, there are uses for the lower powered diodes as well. I actually use a 405nm as a pointer in lecture. I don't WANT 90mW of laser in the room. At this price, even if you get a lower power diode, you still haven't been "ripped off." The price for the GB sleds was comparable to these.

Peace,
dave

I got me one yesterday well ordered it yesterday what will i do with it i have no idea but i got one will def try to build me a bluray already picked up some parts from sentek and rkstr got this trippy dx flachlight host its a led-uv and red now hop[e to create a bluray

I'm in the same shoes man. I already have a burner here I'm going to rip appart so I'm going to use that as my first build... Then I'll move on to putting the B-R together, you know once I've had a bit more practice soldering. But yeah, when I read about the possible output power I had to get one, at that price I'll deffinately be buying more if they all turn out good.
