So, bit of an update, and questions for everyone interested;

I got the new adjustable boards in, along with the new layouts a while ago, but only today did I get a chance to finally test one of them.

I chose an adjustable board, because everyone's been waiting for one.

And, I have remedied the spike problem with the adjustable boards! :)

HOWEVER. There does remain a problem; There's a discrepancy between current outputs in boost and buck mode. What's that mean? Well, if I set the current to... 300 mA, while it's boosting, all is fine and good.

However, when I switch it over to bucking mode, the current rises, quite a bit, to 500 mA or so! (not slowly it's instant.)

Which leads me to ask everyone interested, would you still want one if you can't switch out 1 or two cells whenever you want? (this only applies to violets, and blues. There was no significant current change between one cell vs two cell bucking mode)

Like in a C6 build, if you're running two 16340's and decided to switch to 1 cell, you wouldn't be able to do that without adjusting the current.

I WILL keep trying to fix the problem however. Hopefully I can, but I just wanted to give everyone an update on the boards.

Looks nice.

Cut a strip of copper from a (pre 1982) penny, fold it over a few times and solder it on that heatsink pad like I did here.
That will probably be all the heatsinking it needs.

In my dual edrive build the change in current when going from boost to buck must be very small because the output goes up by less than 100mw...

This effect only applies to the new adjustable boards, though. All previous boards and the non-adjustable ones that are going to be made in a few days do not have this problem, at all. The current variation from buck to boost mode for the nonadjustables is typically within 10-20 mA.

I apologize, I neglected to really specify that. :P

Are these boards actually able to be bent to fit in tough places? I read through the entire first page of posts but none of it was about anything I was trying to figure out and it took forever.....so I skipped the rest of the pages. I apologize if this information was somewhere between pages 2 and 5, but yeah....

If not....why are they called elastidrives?

You cant bend a typical PCB and expect the drive to work after that...

Oh man that was a good laugh.

I think the name elastic drive is to poke fun at the long time standard for drivers, the flexmod. They are called elastic/flex because they are flexible in that they can take one or two cell input, and can be used for many different types of diodes.

Sorry for laughing, but that really was funny.

As cool as a flexible PCB would be, no, they are not actually elastic :P

They do fit within aixiz modules no problem though, so I guess yeah, they do fit in tight places :)

Well, as I've said before, I'm still deciding on a business model for selling these... It's very time consuming to make them, as I have to go to the lab which is a decent walk from my dorm to make them. Then, I have to do testing on each one to make sure they work properly, and sometimes they don't work due to no connection. Each one takes at least 30-45 minutes to make, and it's not even guaranteed they work right.

I really do hope I can sell them to a store owner, because shipping them myself is a pain in itself as well.
