How bright would you say that is compared to other lasers of the same power level.

This question looses some validity with regard to 405nm. 405nm is very close to the edge of our eyes' ability to "see" it, so the appearance of "brightness" is effected. I cannot even see the beam (no matter how dark the room is or how long I have been in the dark) unless the room is filled with so much incense that it is difficult to breath and I have one that puts out 95mW.

The "brightness" of the dot is also VERY strongly effected by the fluorescent reaction of what it is shined on. On a flat black surface, the dot seems very dim indeed. On a piece of white cloth that has been washed with fabric softener, the brightness of the dot can light up the whole room!

In a photo, the "brightness" is effected by the camera's sensitivity to this wavelength and the level of ambient light.

I think it's probably different for different people too. The beam on my PS3 build, is very faint, and can only be seen in very dark conditions.

But the 6 X blu-ray, shows a beam reaching out into the night sky! :D

I have visually compared the 6 X beam with a 15mW green in the dark. My 6 X blu-ray beam is a little brighter than a 15mW green beam in the dark. But not in normal room light...

Yeah. That what I was trying to say. I read all the time about how beautiful the beam is "reaching into the night sky" and I can't even see the beam from a 95mW unit in a dark room full of smoke :'(

indeed there is. Now there just needs to be a way to adapt the merideth lenses to my kryton barrels. I know that I've had to hand tap each and every single one of these barrels so taht the aixiz lenses fit. Are the meridith bigger or smaller in diameter than the aixiz?

The Meredith is bigger than the AixiZ. It's module O.D. is 1/2". It would be able to fit into your barrels. But I didn't want to mess with your awesome design. Also because I like the aperture caps, which would probably not fit after modifying it to fit a Meredith.

Then again, the Meredith brass focus knob would look just fine in there! ;)

I was just thinking the same thing. It would be nice, but then you'd have to add yet another option to your order page!
I do have a tap and die set of my own, but I've never used it! Maybe I can learn how to use it and convert one of my barrels when I get them :).

I want to put a Meredith glass lens in a Kryton barrel....but for now, the MXDL host with my heatsink is a good mount for the Meredith. I just built another one using a PHR-803T blu-ray diode:

Update! After talking with GooeyGus about how high he has his 6 X running, (and just recently IgorT) I decided to turn my 6 X up to 191mA's. I upgraded to a FlexDrive as well. :) I really like the Meredith glass lens for a blu-ray! 8-)

Yea... this aixiz acrylic stuff is really bad when you start having this much power. Mine is just under 190mW after the lens, and right around 240mW without... a 50mW loss...
