I am a newbie on DPSS, but interrested in visible dioded side pumped solid lasers. I order a Pr YLF crystal (3x3x6mm in size) and use cheap 445nm blue laser (below 1.6 W output). Using cheap mirrors: one flat HR mirror, one concave mirror, and a He-Ne output coupler, to form a V style Resonant cavity. I get the crystal lase at 640nm.

"Only few laser materials have necessary properties for realization of lasing in visible spectral range. Trivalent praseodymium (Pr3+) is known to be an interesting laser ion for using with solid-state lasers in the visible spectral range because of its energy levels scheme, providing several transitions in the red (640 nm, 3P0 to 3F2), orange (607 nm, 3P0 to 3H6), green (523 nm, 3P0 to 3H5), and dark-red (720 nm, 3P0 3F3+3F4) spectral regions. Pr3+:YLF has been found as promising laser material for producing visible"

This is a great experiment. I would love to get my hands on one of these crystals and try to get it to lase at 607 nm.
Great job. Show more photos! I'd like to see the optical setup.

Cannot tell from your one photos what wavelength this lases at. If I had to guess it might be the 720nm WL. That would look deep red, not orange. like 607nm or 640nm.

Where are you located? Perhaps I can send you some brand new orange or green HENE OCs to match your experiment. I have around 175 of them in different variations including multiline.

nice! did you measured 640nm power output? efficiency? thanks, great work!

Fcl is 50mm,Lf is 51mm,L2 is 5mm, Lcav1 is about 75-85mm, Lcav2 is 70-75mm, ROC of Ro is 100mm.

I think the wavelength might be 640nm for all mirror is stopped at 700nm, mirror HR is stopped at 650nm.

Sorry I do this at home, but if possible, I am going to borrow one. My boss is not interested in optical field, so I have no instruments about it. :)

Thank you very much. But the bad messege is I am in Beijing China. The shippment costs very high for international people, so thank you but perhaps it is impossible to send me the mirror. :(
