rocketparrotlet said:Okay. Thanks. I have another question about blu-ray light: I can't see it that well. But my mom can see it seemingly all too well. I moved the dot onto the black driveway last night, about 30 or so feet away from where we were. (This is safe without goggles, right? How close up is safe outside on dull surfaces?) Anyway, it didn't really appear much brighter to me than on a tree 100 feet away, but it gave my mom an immediate headache and she said it was way too bright. Why does this happen?

rocketparrotlet said:You mentioned earlier that it was supposed to be dim. However, apparently it can light a white match at only 40mA, but I can't even get it to sting my skin! (It is unfocused, because focusing it up close would require safety goggles, which I do not have yet. I'm in on thesk8nmidget's GB.) If it can light a white match focused at 40mW, I would think that it could sting skin unfocused at 100mW. I can't even feel it.

this site is awesome!

With me, there seems to be a second dot (almost like the laser is mode hopping, but not...if you rotate the beam, the extra dot doesnt move) right above/below/beside the real one. The thing is...if you shine it on something florescent, the real dot changes color, but the fake one is still violet.daguin said:7) The eye has trouble seeing 405nm light. 405nm is "Near Ultra Violet" light. Blu-ray lasers are at the very edge of our eye's ability to see. Older people have more trouble and glasses with UV coatings filter it. Your eyes will get tired quickly when you first start using the blu-ray and the beam and dot may look "strange" to you. If you have read about IgorT's experiences you will have a better understanding.
