Some Chemicals...

all i have to add is chemicals are great if you take the right precautions. imagine how i feel here is aus with the government banning everything left right and center. 3 years ago i could ude the internet freely at a public library, 3 months ago shoot a laser into the night sky to admire the beam without getting arrested( not at planes).to a greater extend everything is great and contributes to life in one way or another. like a bad experience makes the good ones better.

note: thermite is impossible to put out. it using do it in the middle of nowwhere ;D

Murudai - you make some valid arguments, but the point is, America IS free to do lots of things that other places cannot, and hopefully that will never change - Styro has every right to sell just about anything on this forum - if it is illegal, then he would be censored

So, you're essentially saying it's okay to sell chemical weapons to kids or anyone who walks in the door. You could poison an entire water supply and kill thousands if you know where to put it.

Great... what a wonderful country you live in. I'm sure as heck NEVER going there.

Murudai you are the Helen Lovejoy type of person that gets things banned!!!
OMG selling murcury will cause thousands of people die!!!!!! is the same stupid comment that will get lasers banned, OMG lasers are only for blinding pilots!!!

You worry too much. What if those kids are planning on poisoning the water supply? What if my neighbor is making a bomb to kill us all? What if someone with a laser causes a plane crash killing hundreds? What if Iraq is making weapons of mass destruction?

Murudai likes to use the logical fallacy of reductio absurdium to make himself sound right. In reductio absurdium the arguer takes a claim and extends it to its most exaggerated (absurd) state to show that the claim is "bad". Most things NEVER get to the most exaggerated end, but because it is possible, people are reluctant to argue against it. There are many safeguards and checks in place to catch someone planning a bad action. Murudai likes to pretend that NONE of those safegaurds or checks will work and the world will go to hell in a handbasket.

Do we catch everybody with bad intent . . .Of course not, but the alternative is a fascist state where the "government" takes care of you so you don't have to worry.

When he makes these absurd assertions, I recommend you do what I did when he tried it on me. Ignore his statement.

Sell them chemicals, kid.

Peace,
dave

daguin here is using ignorance. By attacking the method of argument, he is able to ignore the point the argument makes. This is a common strategy imposed when the speaker cannot formulate a proper argument to counter the proposed comments. Instead, by attacking the integrity of the proposer of the statements, it is an attempt to make the statements appear not true. Not by countering the original arguments, but by discrediting the proposer of those arguments.

This is a cheap way of making a point to people who don't know the facts. By discrediting the speaker, you can immediately make him seem bad no matter what he says. So this makes understanding the original points irrelevant.

Thus this method of argument only serves to promote the ignorance of other peoples opinions.

So lets make it very clear then:

Is it okay to sell a kilogram of mercury to a child?

That is what I said in my statement, before you all went and twisted my words to make your own points. You don't need to limit dangerous things completely, just limit it to people who can use them responsibly. I think you can agree with that.

And before you go twisting my words again. I am ONLY talking about the mercury. The other chemicals I have no problem with, and everything else I have no problem with. Otherwise, shouldn't I be disagreeing with selling high power lasers?

this thread should probably be closed, i'm not seeing any discussion that's benefiting the forum

I agree.

I think it's pretty safe to assume no one is going to budge from their opinions :) So continuing to argue this is pretty pointless.

Lets just stick with lasers :) Heh, I hope none of you will hate me in laser discussion just because I argue passionately about something completely different. I'm only arguing passionately about mercury here because one of my favourite teachers has suffered mercury poisoning.

So - Styro, how much for the Mercury ? I wanna give it to the neighborhood kids to play with :D Wow - this thread sure did degrade from someone offering something that someone else might want - I don't know of any kids on here that would even by mercury, so I think your whole "point" Murudai is worthless.

Styro - I suggest posting a new thread with what you are offering up - and if this clown posts in it, just start a new one until he tires of his own stupidity.
