Actually I'm going to try making a bench power supply for leds as well as laser diodes with ammeter and pot. Still need a heatsink for the 1085, might just thermal epoxy it to a chunk of aluminum since it doesn't have to be compact or pretty

Its totally cool with me if you want them.

With international shipping, it no longer makes sense for me to pay the shipping cost just to order 3. But that's a-okay with me. I didn't desperately need them.

I got the wrong size part to make a 3A version of my driver. These are about the same size as LM317's but with bent legs for use on SMD pads.

Does anybody know for sure what the reference voltage is for sure?

For calculating resistance needed...

It looks like 1.5 on the data sheet, but I just what to know if anybody has used them and know for sure.

With an LM317, we know it's 1.25. Is this regulator 1.5??

From my experience with these, they have the same 1.25 v reference voltage.
 
Yes they do, 1.25V reference.
Just wanted to add I received my ICs from jib about a week ago, plus two free surprise
goodies
: one blank PCB for a testload which looks fabulous, it has a jumper to
switch between 4 or 6 diodes, has measuring points for the DMM and everything is labeled,
very very nice! Thank you!
The other freebie was a round battery contact "pill".

Oh also the shipping was really fast!

Interesting - Can I thread hijack for a moment? Jib's gift to anselm reminded me of something I've been meaning to investigate for a while.

Does anyone know where to get those round battery contacts? To date, I've just been salvaging them from other places, often from drivers themselves (and just desoldering components). But it's sort of becoming a waste now, because I'm down to just fairly decent drivers (like 7135s) that I could actually use as more than just battery contacts.
 
Oh no kidding? He actually had battery pad PCBs created?

When those low cost fabs make your designs, do they do the cutting as well? (and can they cut perfect circles?
