SOLD Kryton Groove 9mm 445nm diode

Re: FS Kryton Groove 9mm DIY kit

Thanks man^

I'm selling because I do not have the time or interest to build this/keep it. I dont like 445nm lasers much, they are too dangerous for my liking, I like to do things that people havnt done before, and challenge myself. This laser would be "too easy" for me, and not provide much entertainment

Re: FS Kryton Groove 9mm DIY kit

Fair enough although I do think getting the driver in the host and working well will be a challenge! I have two of them and will be using a round AMC driver in one and in the other a round Xblank as a contact board for Foulmist's iDrv3, as Im not happy with the idea of the diode pins taking all the load.

Anyway, sounds like you might have to get one of the 520 diodes if you want something novel! ;)

haha yes I am waiting for the prices to come down to a stable level, dont want to buy and a few weeks later it drops. Personally I dont think its much of a challenge, a spring would work fine, or something to hold it in place.

Re: FS Kryton Groove 9mm DIY kit

If its that easy, why don't you just build it and sell it for a decent profit, instead of selling it as parts for a loss?

was just going to suggest this. if you build it you can easily get around 2W (forget what the driver is set to though). then you could sell it for idk like $200???? people dont want to build grooves, they want to buy them fully made :)

Re: FS Kryton Groove 9mm DIY kit

Guys, I have a pic with my fix for the driver issue. I believe it's on page 10 of Moh's Kryton thread. If you want, you can PM me for the details.

Re: FS Kryton Groove 9mm DIY kit

Jeez you are all giving him a hard time. It's a good deal and a good price. You don't like the driver? Get a different one...

Good luck to your sale! I got plenty of hosts, drivers, and diodes or else I would get it. It's especially a great deal if you're in the UK...

Edit: and by the way, the groove is worth more than $25... good luck if you ever see it selling at that price again. Moh hardly even breaks even on all those deals. Like his website says, he'll probably have to stop doing all that work for free...

^Thanks man. I'll leave it for another day before I begin contemplating building it, thanks for the suggestions guys.

Re: FS Kryton Groove 9mm DIY kit

The round driver can be used. Best way I have found so far is to solder a couple pre-tinned wires to the outer ring of the driver so they are sticking outwards, and clip them to just a few millimeters length, and then bend them over the driver's edge.
When you slide the driver into the driver compartment, they rub against the side of the barrel giving you your negative input from the case.

After that, slap a piece of copper on top of the regulator and arctic silver it down.

I'll probably make a video of that as soon as I can get the time.

My first attempt failed because we had not discovered the anodized layer yet, so i couldn't figure out why it was acting so strange.

Re: FS Kryton Groove 9mm DIY kit

Right, put it all together, using moh's method above. Works great. I will keep the price the same, feel as if this is what it is worth. Nothing is glued so you can simply open it up and change drivers, or whatever it is you want to do. I can not include any batteries, due to custom reasons.

Re: FS Kryton Groove 9mm DIY kit

good luck on the sale daawood!
this place sure has changed.

Re: FS Kryton Groove 9mm DIY kit

Look, for the record, I was only asking questions to establish exactly what condition everything was, etc. I didn't plan on this becoming a pile-crap-on-daawood thread.

I was just trying to get clarification. Daawood, let me know what you decide to do with this.

Re: FS Kryton Groove 9mm DIY kit

i also wasnt trying to put down the OP but from what i knew about the groove the set up he said wasnt going to work. then it looked like he pressed the diode in the module for good since he didnt say it was a loose module that the diode could be removed from.

GL with the sale and sorry if it seemed like a crap-a-thon

Re: FS Kryton Groove 9mm DIY kit

Its okay guys *wipes tear*. On a serious note though, I dont mind, some things needed to be said, and I dont mind you guys asking for proof and whatnot, but I have to agree with cheech, this forum sure has changed a lot. Also have no idea how you guys figured out my name :D .

Scumbagtheist (have to write out your whole name, scumbag is a bit awkward lol) I have put it together, although in a sort of makeshift way, hence the price. I have tested it thoroughly and I see no issues, although the buyer may want to to open it up and put a heatsink onto the driver, have none on hand. Tbh $100 for a 2W+ laser seems to me to be a very good price, especially in a Kryton. You cant even get this for parts right now guys. It is ready-to-play atm, you can just chuck in batteries and off you go.

Dont really know what else I can do to :/
