If only my other 200mW module from O-like had been so lucky :'[

I have had Eud speak to me and he expressed the following:

- They can go to 300mW, just wear down fast.
- People generally tend to use them at around 200mW

I have had no choice but to list it this way.
I am going to speak to Susie and get it re-done on both websites.
We'll probably just remove the 300mW and leave it at 6X.

ZRTMWA, you can return items to us.
You need to send it back, and we'll actually do it right.
Remember, the customer service part is managed from New Zealand, and you can not just assume all companies from China are dodgey!

The item was described to me a certain way, so I listed it that way.
And as stated, I am going through the process to rectify it as I do believe in honesty!

Well it seems that it was very late for me :crackup:
I meant, before optics. To get near the 200mW value of finished laser for good life, you would need high quality lens assembly on your laser, like 405-g-1, or similar.

I have only dealt with PHR diodes so far, but I've done some reading...
It appears that all bluray diodes are alike in therms of overdriving.
PHR diode is stable and long living at 100-120 mA giving 80-100mW accordingly.
However, they will not instantly diode (like red diodes) if being overdriven by several tens of mA's, you can push the PHR diode to put out near 200mW (before optics), however it will degrade and die in a minutes time.

Same with 6X, they are generaly stable at 180-200mW, and pushing them to 300mW will cause them to die in a minute or two (if not sooner).

I'd like a veteran here confirm this... thanks :D

Oh, lemonwonder, if you feel like typing my nick is a pain, you can simply type in JZ (goes for everybody here), as in my real name initials.
Also don't worry, one out of entire crowd will have different opinion always... ZRTMWA, if you don't like, don't buy.
Give me ONE company online webshop for laser parts that are not stating a lil'bit more than actually is. (PARTS, not sites like laserglow, DL and similar).

You're right, I shouldn't have assumed that all Chinese companies are dodgey but in my defense just look at their track record. Also, hightechdealz and modwerx don't state more than what they can actually put out. Rayfoss might have but I don't think it did and I can't check now cause of their new site.

I would definitely not consider myself a veteran, expecially on 6x diodes but I searched all over and I can't find one thread about a GGW 6x going up to 300mW, even for a couple of minutes.

So the 200mW, 300mW and 400mW 12mm modules do only run on 600mA? I'm sorry but I just have to be skeptical of the quality. If you look at the threads reviewing these modules, every other LPM test has the 200mW module performing around 130-170mW. And Susie even said she measures each module before she sells them. Faona over at Rayfoss said the same thing but some of their 200mW torches performed were tested and sold underspec.

If you recieved a 200mW 12mm module from the factory and tested it and it performed on average at 150mW would you still sell it as 200mW, maybe hoping that your customer didn't have an LPM or would you throw it in the 150mW bin?

Edit: I thought the blu ray diode you were selling was a GGW not an SF-AW210. But still if you did ache\ieve around 300mW (with good optics) it would degrade very rapidly. I guess 250mW would be safe to advertise it as. Sorry

200mW module is 11.9mm, everything above it is bigass style RPL modules, with IR filter, heatsink, and clickie on PCB isntead of momentary button.

It has been said that the site is still being formulated. Also, modules run at different currents each, however spec info and pictures are still WIP, so please have patience.

(^Look at me, I sound like I actually run the site ;D )

Also, measuring the current aproximately gives you the power, the current that is going to the diode is about the miliwatts of diode output (maybe a little bit above, but just to keep things simple).
The green output is then 25 % of the diode output.
Meaning if you have a laser drawing 100 mA, it's output can be aproximated at 20-30 mW. (always give or take a few).

Also, SF diodes are not even 250 mW rated, they will not last you to the end of the week. Unless you assembled it on Sunday :crackup:

See, I didn't know that first sentence. I figured it but it said 11.9mm so I was skeptical.

I think that second highlighted sentence is wrong. It is true that green output is at most 25% of the IR diode output but that thing about surrent is wrong I believe. If your IR diode was 100mW (not mA) then you could expect 20-30mW.

I guess I'll just have to wiat until some other people revuew their orders.

So did you order the 200mW module from beamcheap? Do you have an LPM to test it? Thanks.
 
No, we do not simply hope all of our customers do not have LPM's, how pathetically stupid do you think we are?

The main point in a good business is honesty.

And if you check under the product specs for the modules, it says that the specs may be wrong and will be remedied shortly.
 
Your doing a great job Lemon as I mentioned in the other thread,

I don't know what some peoples issues are, we all know O-like is a great site with good customer service, the site is run by the same company with some extra colleagues, promising better customer support and also LPM readings for all lasers sent out + free shipping!

What could be better?

You are treating this like a whole new random site, and assuming everything is dodgey? what's your problem, it's run by pretty much the same people at o-like, and they are being nice enough to confirm all updates with us, ask for advice and suggestions and taking them on board instantly...

I think you should be more worried about other sites, rather than picking up on silly little things on a new site that has just been released. As lemon said there was a clear bar of text saying the specifications may be wrong, and changed all other issues instantly.

@ ZRTMWA - Yes I bought the 200mW module I haven't decided what host to put it in but I have a few on hand and yes I have an LPM when I get the module I plan on learning a few new tests and doing each to the best of my ability(e.g divergence ,TEM style, and of course testing power output on the LPM)

Your doing a great job Lemon as I mentioned in the other thread,

Please, please you guys are understanding me all wrong. I feel I have to play the part of the cynic. I am just curious about a new business. Now that I have your confirmation about the 200mW module, I plan to order one.

We do know that O-like is a great site and they have great product support/ customer care, however sometimes some of their products fail their reputation.

I don't think you are pathetically stupid I'm just wary of the fact that other well known and trusted companies promised the same things you are and failed to deliver.

I did not feel like I was "picking up on tiny little things" but if you percieved it that way I am sorry. I was just trying to help any new customer that was planning on buying a 6x SF-AW210 who would actually expect it to put out 300mW.

Again I am very, very sorry if I upset anyone I was just trying to learn warily about a new company. Thank you.
