SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

Hey Hak, I see some of the others who purchased the higher end units, checking the alignment on thier PJ's,
is there anything to look for on the LK-3D to see if there are any problems?

AFAIK the way the 3d is made there should be less need to re-align.
I do as Tony suggested- look at your mixed colors- anytime it is spoozed to be , say, yellow there should little or no green or red showing as the need to be perfectly stacked. The white dot you can see(Paused) in some of the 3D's patterns can be to take a closer look, its , of course, made up from all there lasers and when you see ONLY white... thats as good as it gets.

I would think where colors are combined, ie white and yellow, that the beams align to a clean line.

I believe you are correct-- BTW the 3D is not a 'beamer' like some PJs are BUT yes with lots of smoke/fog the many beams look pretty awesome IMO.

And I should have a DMX to play with next week..

Good going!! Bruce be da man for help w/ DMX & I am anxious to see what DMX can do that the remote cannot-

- I think DMX for the PD2s is a must if you dont or DO own soft--We thnink the only way we can shoot other stuf thru the wheels is by using DMX

Eagle has landed. WOW

@Shaken-- your joining our GB at the end was VERY appreciated by all of us. we were short of the expected numbers and your buying was a big help to all. Sorry you did not see that the SD was the same price with 350mw more-- but side by side i saw VERY little dif. and all the specail efx make the PD2 a better choice for most. Hope you as happy as we all were-- some upgrades have also been done by PD2 owners that you may want also- 'P-man' Pete added easily an aux jack for hardwire connection to the music and Greg 'Bungy' swappped his scanners for DT 40s!! WOW - nice work bro- and he said it DID make a big improvement

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

Thanks Tmack & Hak, I'll check for color the alignment.
To be honest, I've been having too much fun just playing around, and havn't even looked for misalignment issues! :D

@ Hak - Thanks for clearing up about the use of the "auto" function while using the PJ in remote mode. :)

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

Ditto. I'm glad to know it's the remote not allowing the patterns to cycle.

Even though it's not so beamer, it sure looks good. I can't wait to get the pd2 next time around. I hope it comes relatively soon. Patience was never my strongest virtue. :p

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

I am noticing some red leak through the edges of the faux yellow, though sometimes it looks fine. I wonder if it's due to the DPSS nature of the green. On one side of my green lines, the light seems to taper off and make a small gap in the connection with the other lines of color. I'm guessing this is the reason for the red leak on the edge of the faux yellow. I notice some red leak on the faux purple too. As far as I can tell, that adjustment screen only allows you to change the X and Y axis orientation, not really align anything.

Does it seem like I'm complaining?

I may have failed to mention that this thing blows my mind.

I wonder what kind of faux yellow you get if you blend 520 instead of 532?

really enjoying the beam shows with glycerin fog. WOW.

If it's foggy enough, you get a beam show on all the settings, though some settings are less impressive in that use.

Dreams of DMX or software dancing in my head. need to wait for funds

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

Received my LK-3D today, everything looks good except a couple things...

My LK-3D only knows 20 preset patterns, unless I am not doing something right?
If I go to the 4 alignment screens, I get a steady flickering from the X and Y to a pattern, not sure why it isn't consistent on the X and Y screen

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

Sorry four the double post coming next, but seems we're still discussing audio here on PD2 and I just posted on the recent LK-PD2 review thread. Basically I have determined that the mic does not respond to bass beats, and instead will trigger the Sound shows in the range of 300 Hz to 3000+ Hz. (see my test data). And this is OK, because it does a dandy job! However, I had to press a headphone up against the mic hole and feed it 110 dB C-weighted SPL of music to watch all the sound shows and get some action. No doubt that max headphone level is not going through the tiny mic hole, but it's enough to trigger it and it's fabulous! THIS is what a laser show is all about – music sync! :) The Auto shows are super great, and I'm sure DMX and laser show software will add more thrills, but getting that mic to respond is a fabulous visual treat!!! You gotta try this.

The response is dependent on what frequencies and levels are present in the music. But get a great song going with a groove, and those sound show patterns and sync triggering is absolutely giggles! NOW we're rocking'! Just don't panic when it's a quiet part or mostly bass because it won't respond. Some patterns don't advance as fast as others, and that does not seem to be the music's fault. But other pattern changes are really quick and sometimes you get some fast sequencing!

I know the Line-In trick works, but if we could get some preamp going between the existing mic and the board, that would be preferred so you don't have to have wire it to your A/V amp. At least I can make it happen within my computer DAC and headphones at 110 dBC SPL, but that's a hassle. The sound leakage is not that loud when the headphones are pressed tight against the case. Then I just turn up my main speakers and I have a cool laser show that is responsive and dynamic.

You folks have got to SEE the Sound shows with music! :na:

Saw a wireless 'sound amplifier' FS on tv it looks just like a regular hearing aid 'sposed to make the sound 30X louder 30$ for two plus shipping- comes with a charger so no primary batteries to ever buy- I thought right away that it may be possible to use one of these to improve the response in a Chi_jector--

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

So glad the projectors are working out for you guys:) Yeah, it's me lol. As you all see, it's just too hard to explain what one is really like. Yes, fog, fog, fog and get on the receiving end with a card to block your eyes from a direct hit and welcome to the twilight zone.

Don't think the Chauvet 70 allows all patterns. Confirmation on this?

Oh, Happy new year my friends!!!

Pete

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

Holy crap Pman!

And the chauvet 70 SHOULD run all patterns n the 3d, and the chauvet 40 is only one off from running everything. Just an FYI for the 3D owners . I can't confirm this for the PD2 . Bruce will have to chime in.

Man nice to see that turtle every once and a while :)

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

Hey Pman,
So far with the Chavelt Obey 70, I have been able to access any image listed on the Pattern chart listed in the PD2 manual. I have not tried to access every image, buts the ones I wanted to , I set the channel siders to where the manual told me and the desired image appeared. I have not yet used any if the Auto or Sound activated modes so I do not know if there are additional images or patterns that are there. Maybe this weekend I will try those modes and just sit back and watch. I originally bought the Obey 40 for what was to be a 3D and upgraded to the PD2. After I switched I realized that will only cover 16 of the 19 channels. The 3D has 17 channels ,so channel 17 (controls X axis movement speed I think), would not have been able to control, though there must be a way if looked into. My Casa CTL-HM uses 9 channels, and definitely not as sophisticated as the PD2, does many different things than the PD2.So far I have used the Obey 70 and the PD2 only one time for a few hours to photograph.I have a ton to learn but so far DMX has been a pleasant experience. This weekend I will hook up both my projectors to the controller. Should be interesting.

  • Just heard back from LK- my possible issue with the modulation was with my soft ware set up apparently , I was assurded that Linnaa ordered and saw to the upgrade for the analog modulation. So my initial opinion is VERY high..
  • 10/10 all things considered except 9.9/10 on alignment (red) and actually I would have been more surprised if the alignment was 100% spot on - these get handled dozens of time tween China and Houston and just how careful can they be when these get here in 72 hours??-- I need more time to go into detail and also to want to keep this thread going no need to start another-

here is a good read- I know Pete also will enjoy this--

Read this interesting info from the LK site:

Most of the original "laser shows" that exposed the public to the beauty and pure colours of lasers were in the form of art, sculpture and holography exhibitions. This does not meet today's definition of a laser light show.
It is defined here as a show where the laser is the main attraction. It is as an event where the audience expects the laser to be the major component of the show. For example, lasers at a rock concert would not qualify as a laser light show as the audience came to see the band not the lasers (except possibly in the case of a Pink Floyd's tour). Laser light shows typically choreograph projected scanned laser images (abstract, representational and optically generated) and beam effects with a music soundtrack for a complete entertainment experience.
Once lasers moved from the laboratory to production and became widely available, they generated a great deal of interest and excitement especially amongst the artistic community. Early laser "shows" were often static beam array sculptures and did not use the scanned imagery we are familiar with in today's shows.
Lasers were first used in many art exhibitions which do not qualify as "pure" laser light shows since the lasers were an element of the show along with other art works. These laser art shows were the precursors of today's laser light shows. They exposed the public to the lasers pure colours and light as an art/entertainment form.
Much of the early artistic use of lasers was in the creation and display of holograms. Holograms continue to be a popular art form and many cities now have museums and galleries devoted to holography. The original and most famous of which is "The Museum of Holography" on Mercer street in New York City, founded in 1976 (now closed).
Optical transforms (diffraction patterns) were a very popular form of laser art in the early seventies. An optical transform is created by projecting laser light through an aperture and observing the results on a screen. The aperture used for the transforms was typically a black and white image recorded onto high contrast 35 mm film. The resulting projected patterns were often very complex and artistic. To make a permanent record of the transform, the laser can be projected onto photosensitive paper or photographed with a regular camera.
One of the first exhibitions of optical transforms was presented by Canadian photographer Lawrence Weissmann at the International Museum of Photography, George Eastman House, Rochester, NY in 1971. Mr. Weissmann's work differs from most other creators of optical transforms in that he uses images of people and objects rather than geometric shapes.

Early laser art shows
Early light shows relied on images created by mirrors attached to loudspeakers (Sonovision and others), scanning of the laser beam with motorised spinning mirrors, electromagnet-controlled springs and other techniques. While the early methods produced interesting and often repeatable scanned patters, they lack the precise control necessary to accurately position the beam.

The Birth of X-Y Scanning
The heart of the modern laser light show projector is the X-Y scanning system which allows for drawing with light to create abstract and cycloid effects. With today's precision, high-speed, position-detecting galvanometers, scanned graphics and animations are possible.

Steroscopic Laser 3D

Another milestone in the development of laser light show technology was the first presentation of stereoscopic laser 3D. Commercialised by Laser Fantasy International, the first public performance was at Boeing headquarters in Seattle, Washington in 1986.
To project the separate left and right eye views required for perception of a 3D image, the laser projection system used one scan pair for each of the left and right eye images. Polarising material was mounted in front of each scan head in an orthogonal orientation. The audience viewed the presentation using orthogonally polarised glasses. Since the polarised material transmits all laser lines, this technique allowed for the perception of full colour images in 3D.

laser show projectors have come a LONG way--IMO

2.safety guard

Laser light show is more and more popular in public life. And more and more laser lover want to design their own laser show system . But remember ,laser safety is one thing you should consider during your designing. Some interlock devices are required in a laser show system.

and there was a bit more-

THis post reserved for pics coming plus review-
Pleasent surprises aside from the Projector..
The Road case looks as good as any i have seen- has no wheels but thats fine by me,
BUT better- the LK RGB5 has a shutter- which is one of the needed modifications needed to the variance.
Also has delayed start-
key switch
flip switch
warning stickers
and more...

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

Here are just 8 pics I took with my exceedingly crappy camera as my buddy still has not returned my only slightly better digital camera. these are almost an insult, but with current equipment are the best I can do to show some beam show elements with glycerin fog;

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

Brucemir, where did you purchase the 70 from? Amazon has them but it seems to be a mixed bag on quality control according to the reviews. I didn't realize it could handle that many channels.
Yeah, a lot of stuff happened around here in Rochester (home of Kodak).

Tmack, Sorry I didn't get on over the holiday so I didn't get your PM until just now. Here's the video:

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

Hey Pman,
I did purchase my Obey 70 through Amazon. The seller was Think Fast. I ordered the unit Dec.22 and got it on Dec.24. The unit works perfectly. I guess since it has 14 sliders and 2 "pages" it can handle 28 channels. Make sure you also get a 3 pin DMX cord when (and if) you order it. Some sellers include a cord with the purchase. When I purchased the Obey 40 I paid alittle extra and got 4- 15' cords. FYI-If you hook up more than one fixture you will also need a terminator plug. I plan on hooking up my PD2 and Casa this weekend and will be using my terminator plug for the first time
