Re: SANYO 12x Feeler !!!!! $40.00 shipped !!!!!!!!

first come first served with the payment gets the sleds, i have mine ordered all ready :)

Re: SANYO 12x Feeler !!!!! $40.00 shipped !!!!!!!!

all this talk of 400mw+... didnt the website say it was 450mW pulsed, and around 200 mW pulsed?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but these are not 12x BR sleds.
First of all, this technology was only ANNOUNCED last month.
They could not possibly develop these that fast, and even if they did, they would not be selling these to people.
There is no commercial 12x BR Writer, so why would they start selling the sleds?

BTW, this is what it is:

http://www.grassrootscomputers.com/...u-Ray_Reader/BDC-2202/partinfo-id-349070.html

But... It IS a 5x BR, after all ;)

I think this is the right answer, the sleds are from 12xDVD burners that can also read Blu-Ray. But also notice Spyder, that is a 5x Blu-Ray READER, not a 5x WRITER. The drives from geeks.com that had the PHRs where 4x readers, if that gives any indication of what might be in that drive.

But anyway, that's my 2 cents, that there's misinformation here (intentional or unintentional, I have no idea and I'm not implying any foul play). I think these sleds are for drives that can burn DVDs at 12x but only READ Blu-Rays, not burn them, or only burn them at a lower rate. Remember there is at least 1 language barrier here, and maybe more language barriers since these are often parts made for Japanese and Korean companies by Chinese manufacturers, and any number of other combinations of companies from different countries. And people working for these companies do not always have technical skills or training to know the differences with 12x DVD writer, 12x Blu-Ray writer, and the differences between writers and readers.

But please everyone, prove me wrong, I'd LOVE to be wrong here.

The trapezoid beam shaping optic is used in BR burning only, not readers :P

Not saying they are 12x, but there are some things that look appealing, speaking of AMK's thread pics though.

Has any GB runners query'd the model number of the drives to which these sleds belong?

Re: SANYO 12x Feeler !!!!! $40.00 shipped !!!!!!!!

Hey, the way i see it is, if its anywhere above 5X its a bonus!!!! if it turnes out to be a 4X diode from the GGW than atleast its still cheaper!!!!!

Down for 1-2

thats the way i see it 40 dollars for a 4x 6x or 12x is cheap in my book ;)

Re: SANYO 12x Feeler !!!!! $40.00 shipped !!!!!!!!

22 left for the first run

Re: SANYO 12x Feeler !!!!! $40.00 shipped !!!!!!!!

Can i reserve one, and pay next week?

Re: SANYO 12x Feeler !!!!! $40.00 shipped !!!!!!!!

If these are in any way Blu-ray BURNERS (>=4x) then I'll take two. If they turn out to be 12X indeed, I'll increase to four, possibly even more.

I could also draw the graphs of any diode like Daguin and IgorT. I have lots of experience in this as I've already done this dozens of times. I always start with 5mA resolution and when my algorithm detects upcoming kinks, I'll change to 1mA resolution and backtrack a few mA. I'll post the results for discussion before going on to the next kink. I have my lab laser supply with a 10-turn aircraft-grade potentiometer for current adjustment. The resolution is 0.01mA(!) with 1% tolerance. My optical resolution is 0.1mW below 200mW, 1mW resolution above that. I'll also mount them in actively cooled jayrob heat sinks and test without and then with aixiz acrylics.

ill see what i can order and send u a sled for testing :)

That's a good approach.. :) Your graphs are usually very detailed..

ok another update they said

450mW(puls)/200mW  :o

electrical current: 200mA(when 200mW)

they just told me for sure they are 12x sleds she gave me few sites but i cant read chinese's

If they guaranteed this, can we return them, if it's incorrect? Normally in a situation like this, we should be able to...

Not that i expect this. Just saying, that suppliers should be more careful about what they promisse or "guarantee".....

When i ask what these sleds are, they say "Sanyo burner", but they say they don't know what speed. :-?

can't you use google to translate the website?

Re: SANYO 12x Feeler !!!!! $40.00 shipped !!!!!!!!

ill be in for 1 or 2 to start but i think i'll wait til someone tests them.

Re: SANYO 12x Feeler !!!!! $40.00 shipped !!!!!!!!

thesk8nmidget thats fine i think thats what many people is doing, but my supplier keeps saying they are 12x but it will still be a great diode for 40.00 shipped
