Sanwu RGB review

Apparently

My guess is limited production, requiring extra careful hand work and assembly, + expert fine tuning and tweaking, expensive.

My guess is probably something like $799 + shipping w/o a beam expander is my guesstimate perhaps more--doubt it is less.

My official guess is 849.95 although it might come down over time with increased production and whatnot, the alignment may get better over time as well.

I wonder what kind of runtime/duty cycle it could have, is the body stainless steel ?

Also I would be concerned with durability, how robust is it, will a drop from counter top height be survivable ?

My thoughts are $800 to $900 plus shipping. For that kind of money you could get the OPT modules which you can align yourself. If one of these fell off a counter top onto a hard floor, it would make my heart flutter if it were my laser. I wouldn't expect it to remain in alignment. It might also lose one or more diodes in the process.

I can't remember the last time I dropped one of my lasers, but if I bought a 900.00 pocket size unit with my luck it would happen.

Awsome!
Thanks for doing this review buddy, it would have taken some work and time, this
Is great info for those interested, It’s just perfect size and the perfect laser really, imagine if he went with brass MMMMM’” Maybe second version,

Alignment on you opt lasers module if exceptional, The Sanwu RGB isn’t to bad either, I probably wouldn't need alignment to be perfect for more than 10m myself!

Enjoy buddy!

I received mine today also.
Thanks, Bob, for your initial review of the new Sanwu RGB laser. Did you receive it in several shipments, and how long did shipping take? Thanks, and Please Take Care. :D

Is the price a secret ?

I don't know the final price, as I promised to send unit back after review.

Have you tried the BE on yours yet?
I did and it’s a definitely something I’d like to try at night. With the BE you can dial in the dot a bit more. Nice tight(er) “white” dot.

I haven't got time to test it with 3x BE yet.

Yes, body is Stainless Steel. I runned it approx 30mins constantly when doing long distance shots. Unit was running pretty warm (outdoor temperature was 13°C during the test).

Wow, Tero! Thanks for your dynamite first review!! I really look forward to seeing your additional testing. The unit appears to work better than many expected. Enjoy and have fun! Please Take Care and Be Well. :D

I think Bob is living in US and Finnish cold weather is Kryptonite for him..

I received it in two separate shipments and it took 3-4 weeks to get them,
but some delays was caused by Finnish customs and postal service.

EDIT
btw Bob.. Did you order Auto rotating star caps with your RGB unit?

From the time I paid, it took about 15 days to get it to me. I ordered another Red Guardian and some dust lens also. I've noticed on the higher powered Sanwu, they seem to burn or melt dust into the dust lens, if the dust lens aren't keep spotless, and that's tough to do.

30mins run time, that's a good to know. (Bob lives in the desert everything below 50 is winter! )

yeah, 30min in outside and outdoor temperature was 13°C during the test. It might get hot if runned that long in indoors.

13%C that's like 55%F, time for the winter coats! :san:

Sure is some nice workmanship on this RBG. I like how small it is. Sanwu, I think has a real winner here. :gj:

If the stainless steel shell feels hot then the diodes inside are likely a lot hotter, however if it works it works.

One other thought, not to be overly critical, is that the unit being tested is likely the best of the bunch as for alignment, I would be interested to see how some other units print at distance.

Lovely! As they say + Rep! I would love to see some night beams- I'd love to see yellow, orange- real purple (Blue+ Red).
You are in the Cally desert? I still want to do some night critter walks-love the creepy crawlies and reptiles out there. I loaned a friend my near UV flashlight to look for scorpions.

Beautiful beam-RGB- so any color is possible-except black.

But what about the IMPORTANT stuff? Balloon popping and cutting electrical tape? Just kidding. I've actually never tried either-although I have lit matches. As a rough gauge of power (and focus of course). And to get smoke for beam shots since I don't have a fogger.

What's a dust lens? I have 2 Challenger 2's and I only notice the focus lens (G7). I have the 1 Watt 520 nm so I'm concerned.

One thing to notice is we use different single mode 635nm diode now, the new 635nm diode has better beam profile to collimate with the blue and green laser beam.

Tero's RGB is using the old 635nm diode and Bob got the new 635nm diode installed in his RGB(Bob you should get better result if you take some laser dot pictures from long distances like Tero did)

Althought we set the diodes running in a conservative output but we do not recommend running the rgb laser over 3 minutes in a row.
