!1Hi GSS,
It took time to accumulate those three 520's they aren't cheap. Hey Rome wasn't built in a day. Well my buddy used to say God bless his soul ( They worked at night) LOL!

Rich:)
:crackup::)
and your not kidding about the prices and iv'e yet to see them come down in price or much at all since iv'e been on the forum.
The NDG700's seem to have proven themselves and not much info to go on the N520 to justify saving $10..
Awesome that you went down and built the 501B for Paul and giving it to him:beer:
All his work with working with diodes for us and you making us some very very very very very nice affordable builds:beer:

Hi GSS,
Thank you,
As you know and are familiar with machining , it take hours of work put into a host. And i try to make them affordable at times. With the cost of tooling and material plus the time involved its tough . Sometimes after completing a host its hard to let it go but thats the way it is. Yes Paul has been doing wonderful job specting these diodes for us. And with these new 495's thought he could build a new pocket portable wave length emitting device. The 501B's are timeless and a great choice for a dual battery build, 1X18650/2X18350 option.

Rich:)

A very generous gift Rich. Very kind! :gj:

"a pocket portable wave length emitting device" thanks for the chuckle.

I'm wondering if alot of members realize Rich is building these beauty's with what I would call mini lathe, "not a cheap one by any means" but more of a hobby lathe..
Swapping over tooling jigs from procedure to procedure as i'm pretty sure it doesn't have many permanent tooling stations..
Different size chucks and swapping of those, and again stablelizing and centering the host with every change to pick up where he left off over and over, etc, etc..
This adds alot of time so he can make them just right:beer::)
Imagine if he had a industrial setup:thinking:;)

Never thought of that GSS.

I think we should buy Life an industrial stepup next Christmas. Yes, I can imagine the hosts? :D

I've been building these new diode lasers with boost drivers as they all have a pretty high Vf. But, since I do have some adjustable continuous drive X-Drivers, I could use them with two 16340s or 18350s. The only problem is they would shut off once the batteries got down to ~3.7 Volts. These boost drivers take a lot of abuse from heat generated by the 1+ amps it takes to hold the current at 275 mA. I tried a different pico driver from asatralist and it pulls 1.2 amps to keep the output current around 300 mA. The inductor on it runs far to hot to touch within a few seconds. And, it wouldn't do any good to heat sink the back side as it doesn't even run warm.

Morning Rich, hope all is well! Havn't :bumpit: in awhile so here you go. :)

Hi,
Yes wondering you were MIA, thank your the bump buddy. Keep in touch ..

Rich:)

Shall do, no worries, got the big move coming up. ( too much like work ). :)

Hi BM
Yes I forgot that you were relocating to shangrala. Yes lots of work ahead of you. You will need an extra room just for all you toys.

Rich:)

Thought I'd let you know.....that awesome host you sent me I am planning on using for my first 495nm build is held up indefinitely. The postal service will let me know when it gets moving again.
That's just my luck lately. The driver I ordered from DTR on last Wednesday hasn't made it to the post office yet, though the label was printed last Saturday. I was planning on using that driver too.

Hi Paul.
Don't feel so bad all my stuff just came on Tuesday , the snow here screwed things up really good . It should be there soon the host, If Jordan made a label that means he's waiting to finish other orders so he can make one trip to the PO.

Rich:)

I got the host from you today, Rich. Thank you very much. I really need that driver now. + rep. :yh:

Hi Paul,
Awesome be patient buddy it will come soon enough, then we all can see that beautiful WL in that host.. Cant wait nice..

Oh i PM'ed you on that question..

Rich:)

Thanks, Rich. I sent the money after your favorable transaction. It looks like my driver will arrive on Saturday. Can't wait to put it altogether. :D
