Re: ROUND 2 SOLD!! Awaiting payment - CHEAP 445nm diodes group buy

Seems that there are a few testing these diodes already so if anybody finds information on:

* Pin out
* Current (I read that somebody is testing at 400mA's?)
* Forward voltage

That would be great information even to put right in the first post. And/or in Niko's diode thread...

Obviously we will be using the Micro Boost driver in most cases if the forward voltage is near 5 volts and a high current is needed...

could the projector be powered up and current be tested whilst the lasers are lasing? that would give a good range to power them at

Probably better to extract the diodes and test like we do...

I think we have a pretty good idea that we can start with at least 300mA's and go up from there from what I have read.

But I'm sure we will get a lot of good information from various testers soon enough! :)

We may need to see if we can get FrancoRob to keep track of these just like the 8X and 12X threads...

Im definitely looking forward to abusing one of these and anding info to that thread! Especially if there is a round #3 and I can get a second one!

The beam quality of the lasers in the pictures looks very good considering they are multimode! Definitely Put me down for one in round 3.

If they don't, we should just make a name. Something like BL445?

... I know ... very creative. :whistle::p

Since they can come from 2 different projectors (XJ-A130 2000 Lumens)
and XJ-A140 2500 Lumens).. they may perhaps be 2 different LDs...

So maybe something like.... 445A13 (2000) and 445A14 (2500)...
and if they are the same LD... just XJ-445...

Just my $0.02...

Hey EF.....

sorry for the double post... but 2 different subjects...:yabbem:

before you harvest the LDs from the projectors... would it be possible
to do a Power test on the LDs when setup like in this Photo...

It would give us a baseline of the power they put out at the stated 20,000 hrs
lifetime I read somewhere...

You could block the LDs that you are not testing one at a time to get an average...:cool:

Yeah that makes much more sense. :D

Also, I agree with your other post. Whatever the power in the projector is, we can drive harder than that - that's assuming they are actually under driven to produce a life span of 20,000 hours.

I think I read that the forward voltage will be around 4v. I'll look for the info
