I aint done it yet, all I got is a load of shiny parts;)
When I got a white beam coming out the front..... then its done.

I've been tweaking the drivers today. I've tested them with a 2KHZ PWM signal and it nicely varies the power into my test load. So that's another piece of the puzzle looking good. Hopefully will work the same driven by the microprocessor.

Should get the driver mount / heatsink designed & programmed tomorrow. 2 drivers stand vertically and 1 lays flat because of the LCD connectors taking up a fair bit of space. I'll post a photo of the model .

Been thinking of what to do with the front face, needs a beam exit hole and a bit of shape adding....also I might see if I can fit a simple mechanical shutter...bit more thinking required.

So hopefully in the next 1-2 weeks it will be build time and get some beam shots ( which at the speed I work means 2-4 weeks:D)

Ohhhh sweeeeeet mother of earth !!!!
yeah for sure ! maybe you can achieve a world record with the 1st RGB handheld in guiness book of records ??? oh that beast looks very neat !
well done multimode.. oh i love to see that thingy running :)

First of all awesome job to Multimode for pushing the limits of new laser builds and being able to explain each and every step in the process with detailed descriptions and pictures to complement... This is truly a unique creation and I eagerly await the completion of this build..

Sander I don't mean to burst your bubble but this has already been done by at least two other people...
Recently in the past two years Flaminpyro produced the WFTM (white fusion time machine) with the help of sightfx and FML (FireMyLaser). Its a bit bigger but hand held nonetheless
This build has two spiros (adaptations by FP from sightfx's original build) for multiple shapes and a driver from FML for the option for as many colors and programed settings as you need.

And in the the past 2009 or earlier rog8811 made a similar build maybe without as many colors or a digital display but along the same line..
Here is link to a how to by rog.
White laser pointer - It can be done

Just thought some of the newer people may want to know this..

Unfortunately this isn't the first RGB handheld, but it's by far the coolest one :)

Hi Things,

Yup, I seen the other hand helds and was aware that this wasnt't the first - not many things in this world now that hasn't been done already.

However, once its all assembled and working, there is at least 1 more suprise about this RGB hand-held to come ;) :shhh:

Were did i put my calm down pills.
This looks like the holy grail, and i can't take it anymore.

I can't take it anymore!

 sm.

Great work, can't wait to see the beamshots :P

I don't think the M140 will be much of a problem but the mits might be. The thing isn't the format of the beam, the problem is that the angle in one axis is much wider so even if you crop it to a circle it will spread to an ellipse again... might be better to use a slightly weaker 638nm single mode.

As for the M140's divergence you may be able to "fix" that by defocusing the 532nm to match the divergence.

Ahhh all the pictures are gone :(
Is there something wrong where you have uploaded the pictures ?
I just want to see the last picture of your driver "installed"
But i see only "crosses" : not loaded links to the pictures..
