Review: ARGLPM Ophir

Sorry guys going to have to bow out of this little project for a while. mhemling has the prints. I have an emergency that has come up I have to attend to.

I hope all is well!

I'll print the next revision of the case when I get a chance.

update on the case? Looks like sinner has one ordered already

His is a custom thingy, still drawing it up in CAD. Still having troubles will warping when printing. Wondering if the print surface has something to do with it.

I have been busy building a bridge lol I have to build a balsa wood bridge as an engineering project. I will try to work on it thursday-friday night but I have finals next weeks so I can't spend too much time on it.

Is the print surface temp adjustable. The ones I have from rusty seem to curl a little bit except the one piece he drew up that was really thin. He was saying that the walls being thick causes problems. After you lay the initial 1/16" shouldn't the plate begin to cool down? I could be wrong as I don't have a printer but it makes sense to me.

That sounds cool! :D Do you have any pictures?

You can set the temperature of the first layer, then another temperature for the rest, from 0-120 deg C

Is it a gradual decrease or do you manually do it. A sudden change in temp i imagine would warp it. After you have a sufficient base I would try to get to a med-low temp as quickly as possible in a linear ratio that way the majority of the print is less likely to warp from temp differences. Lol again I have no idea really what I am talking about this is just a guestimation.

I don't think I can manually set it when printing. It takes about 20 mins to cool from 120C to room temp, so it's pretty gradual.

Wait so can u buy these prebuit or is it a diy build. Trying to find a non-diy cheap lpm.

There is no such thing as a cheap pre-built LPM. The TEC unit is $150 but its back ordered for months. You can get the ophir unit hut its $300 or you can get a blue fan basic but not sure how expensive they are. Iirc they are under $200, but talk do some reseatch prior to buying anything. ARG is a great guy and builder but if you dont have a need for an ophir then no use buying one.. Im getting a ophir but I have the $300 and a need for one.

Although the above LPMs are quite nice... you could also
consider a calibrated LaserBee LPM product.

There is also an exclusive LPF Members Discount available
to eligible LPF members...

You can click on the links in my Sig for more details.

the blueFin is a very inexpensive but quality product! many member have had this LPM and if you don't want to spend and arm and a leg on a expensive LPM that would be a good choice!

Jeebus...I feel like I just got force-plugged and thread-jacked, all without so much as dinner and a kiss.
