Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

Second, I would have to know which part was "loose."
Third, I would have to know what part you "unscrewed" part way and then screwed back in.

The very top (the part the diode, lense and focus ring are on) was loose to the point it was hanging the entire time I had the laser, I could set it in, so it wasn't actually hanging, but it was always just loose in there.
Also the middle part was looser than the bottom part (the part you unscrew to get to the batteries), so when I attempted to unscrew the battery part, the middle part was actually the part turning, I realized after about two turns that the battery area was definitely not going to be found through here so i turned it back and found the right part to twist off.

Please note though that none of this was done at anywhere near the force necessary to rip a well soldered wire from where it is soldered from.

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

I still don't understand.

Ok, the way it was that the lense was very tightly screwed into the module, and tightly screwed into the focus ring (which was freaking huge and heavy).
That whole part was just hanging there with no good way to screw it to the body.

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

It would be a lot easier to explain if you had a photo
that showed the parts of your Laser identified as A...
B...C... etc...

Then you could refer to those ID names...

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

hey dave its post number 8 about turning the focusing right and the module turning.
Or maybe i am reading it wrong...

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

The lens was very tightly screwed into both he module part and the big heavy and loose focus ring, this caused the whole focus ring and everything attached to be loose and hanging off of the body.

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

so was the house that holds the laser diode moving when you tried to turn the lens?

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

Sorry for posting it twice, haha, I was on the previous page and refreshed it and the post kept not showing up so I posted it again before realizing there was a new page.
Basically all that you see in the first picture was hanging out of the body.

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

well if that was true. then the laser module was lose.
This is due to that set screw on the heatsink.
So before u used it you put it back and tightened that screw or what?

There was no way to screw it in really, I would twist it in a few times but then when I held it sideways it would just fall out.

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

HMM we may be talking about 2 different things.
the pictures will help clear everything up.

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

The story isn't consistent enough to deal with.

It appears that upperlevel is suggesting that the entire heat sink assembly was "hanging loosely" and "falling out." I cannot imagine any sort of "rough handling" that would cause the front retaining ring to become that loose.

Need pictures (or the laser)

Peace,
dave
